Fighting to Lose Again

After losing nearly 40 lbs, I have gained most of that weight back and am hoping I can get back on the right side of Onederland soon. I turn 30 on Sept 17, 2014 and I want my 30's to be healthy so I can start a family and be the best me I've ever been!

Written January 2009 -- Ever since I can remember, I've never felt like the skinny girl. Even when I was nearly 100 lbs skinnier in high school, I felt like a cow compared to my thin friends. After gaining some weight towards the end of high school, I felt even worse. I lost about 15 lbs on weight watchers before I went to college, but when I met my beautiful and thin college roommate (who is still one of my best friends) over six years ago, it was what you might call another ego-crushing moment!

Why is it that people always need to compare themselves to others? I suppose it is only human nature. In six years I have gained ~60 lbs and a lot more neuroses, but in some ways I couldn't be happier. I have a wonderful boyfriend, I live in one of the coolest cities in the world and I am alive! I joined this site to try to help myself change myself... not so I can look like a Hollywood celebrity, or even look like my best friend. From now on I am only going to compare myself to myself. Setting tangible, realistic goals, and only hoping to become a better me. Not a better somebody else.

Thanks, Kristen. I know. I try to recreate for myself the conditions and the situations and the feelings in my mind back then, so I can SEE that it wasn't the biggest mistake of my life at the time, and that it was RIGHT at the time, too. And that it wasn't bad for a long time, either.

I should have also mentioned that it is a really good jam, too. I forgot how good they are! I kind of want to go on a Nixons binge now and buy up all their albums...all two of them. =)
