I知 one of that rare breed: a native Floridian still living in Florida.

I知 a retired vet tech so I love nature: animals, oceans, beaches, forests, sailing; I also enjoy reading (a variety of genres but) mostly fantasy and nonfiction. Language and words are a joy to me, along with philosophy, theology, architecture, and arts in general. Personality typing (ie, Myers-Briggs) interests me (I知 INTx). And my DH of 37 years and I both enjoy model trains and our marine aquariums, and traveling around the state and lower southeast whenever possible.

I have a positive outlook, and am an inquisitive skeptic. I am spiritual but non-religious, and if pressed for a label would have to call myself eclectic pagan, leaning toward Druidism at the moment. When Christianity 吐ailed for me, I went on a search and have investigated a variety of other religions and cultural wisdoms, gleaning those which resonated with me and ignoring those which don稚.

I知 hoping to connect with others with similar goals, obstacles, and interests, and to encourage others to try the low-carb lifestyle. It痴 an uphill battle, since our government and big-ag still have great influence on our nutritional recommendations. It痴 why we致e gotten in the health and nutrition fix we池e in now. It hurts me to see so many people on so many diet and nutrition sites struggling so hard and trying to do the 途ight thing and quoting all the wrong protocols: calorie-counting, eliminating any fat from their diets, "healthy grains", doing extreme or at least very strenuous exercise and still unable to reach their weight or health goals. They assume they池e not doing 兎nough, or not trying hard enough, and beating themselves up because it isn稚 working. Well, it isn稚 working because -IT- doesn稚 work! Not because of any personal failure! I would like to try to break that cycle.

I know CSA's vary in their quality. Maybe set up a visit to see what they are doing. If in doubt take a kid or two along and make it an "educational fieldtrip". Most good operations won't turn you down.

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for taking the time to put together such a well thought out response to my fish post. I actually tried it for lunch today and although my cooking needs A LOT of help, I may be able to do this!

That's how I feel about my dogs that have passed too; I wish I could do it all over again.

love the pic of your kitty - we lost ours in Dec! Gosh I miss her. She pretty well ignored me but she loved my DH.

thanks for your reply to my VERY LONG blog - sorry about that. I want to re-read a few times to make sure I absorb all you had to say. I am already taking a magnesium supplement so hopefully that will help the legs - I've been taking for about a month. You also mentioned a Functional Med doctor. Is that what we would call a naturopath here? My husband and I went to a health clinic last May for a diet program and the guy who runs the clinic was beside himself with my medical history and wanted to see what he could do for me. Hundreds of dollars later, tons of painful tests on my hands and feet, and tons of horrible tasting liquid supplements I was no better off. The diet worked as long as we stayed on it but it was rather drastic (about 600 cals a day). I have several specialists - ophthalmologist, cardiologist, gastroenterologist, kidney specialist, neurologist, Diabetes clinic, and a nurse practitioner but no family doctor.
