Third Time's the Charm

I'm Pam. This is my third try with SparkPeople after a three-year hiatus. First time, I just toyed with the program. Second time, I was serious and doing well until a permanent injury finally derailed my motivation. This time I should lose weight for a non-urgent surgery--but change STILL has to happen in my head first. I recently joined a healthy lifestyle program through work, but their abstinence approach drove me back to SparkPeople for a third time.

I've NEVER had an Aha! moment since joining SparkPeople. I've never had that photo, comment, health scare, etc. where a person says, "This is it! I'm losing this weight!" All I've had is watching that scale get closer and closer to 300 pounds (and then over) and thinking, "I should do something about this, but I don't seem to care." *munch* *chomp* Two more pounds gained.

I need to lose at least 100 pounds, and I want to be healthier. I'm through with "dieting". I will never again go through the months of control, the losing over 50 pounds, the elation and pride, and then having the control bleed between my fingers while all the weight comes back on, with the resulting self-loathing. Never again. If it's going to change, it has to change in my head first.

That particular workout I didn't use a video. I have used a couple of the ones that are on SP. They are 7-10 minutes usually.

You are correct in that they do comment on the blog. But if it's a personal note, it usually is addressed somewhere on one's page. Don't trouble. I'm still here after seven years and still learning how to do this!

Good luck!

You're very welcome. If I hadn't gone back to your post, I wouldn't have realized you answered there. People usually answer on the person's own webpage, but no matter. The important thing is you're MOTIVATED!

Join SP groups, and challenges. That should help, too.

All the best,

Nu
