My Goals:
My goals are to get to a healthy weight, to hopefully lower blood pressure, breathe better, have better endurance and to be able to get into all of the clothes I have packed away for "someday".. I'd like to be able to manage blood pressure without any medication. That is my goal!

My Program:
Low Carb - Mostly protein (meat, eggs, cheese) Vegetables and some fruits.

Personal Information:
I live in Western Oregon (the rainy part of the state) for most of my life. Have been widowed 18 years, have 4 grown children, 11 grandchildren and 5 grandchildren. I am retired as of 2 years ago and love the spare time I now have! it's so nice to get up in the mornings and not have to hurry, but to be able to sit and enjoy my coffee and reading the newspaper.

Other Information:
I like reading, I enjoy watching a lot of the documentaries and history on Cable TV. I like to travel when I can. I'm in a good place in my life and enjoy the leisure time to explore some of the little towns and out of the way places here in Oregon. Love spending tome over on the beautiful Oregon Coast.

Thanks for your comments on my page! I take tons of potassium, probably more than my kidneys like and when I DON'T take it, I really suffer. I'm hoping the quinine puts a stop to the cramps. I appreciate your encouragement!

That's something you take into account when you age. People do lose slower, it seems everything slows down, doesn't it? I keep mine at 1200 no more no less. And I have lost 2 pant sizes, I don't know how much weight I may have lost until I go back to the Dr. in 6 weeks. But I know something is working. I think I was more impressed with the maintenance calories than in the weight losing part of it. I was wondering how one would figure what they could do to keep a steady weight when they reach goal. That's why I got excited about the show. MJ

It's 12 x your weight which is the calories you would eat if you wanted to maintain your weight as is. If you weighed 185 you multiply that by 12 12 x 185 = 2220 calories. In order to lose weight you have to eat less than 2220 calories. And no less than 1200 for a safe weight loss.

Thanks for reading my Cravings blog! I agree about testing 1 hr, 2 hrs and maybe 3 hrs after eating, especially if you eat a lot of pasta or starchy carbs. It sometimes takes that long for sugar to peak. I didn't mean for the blog to be about blood sugar and how to test it, but added that when some were wondering why I said that wasn't a healthy breakfast. I'm not diabetic either, but it runs in my family so I started monitoring it about a year ago. I'm almost an expert now, lol, on what makes it to UP and what brings it DOWN. Really, I think it's something everyone should do at home for good health.
