My name is Eva and I'm trying to loose 30 pounds by Memorial Day weekend. My cousin is getting married that weekend and I want to wear a little black dress or maybe red! I am also going to run a 5k in April (I hope). About 5 1/2 years ago I lost about 35 pounds and managed to keep it off for almost 3 years but since then have gradually gained most of it back. I stopped walking completly (big mistake). I seem to struggle with staying on a diet plan because I enjoy cooking ...

5/12/2009 (Update)
So that was my original goal but I will not be able to make it. I am exercising just about everyday and have not lost any weight.... I really need to watch what I eat but am finding it very difficult. I have to admit that I have never been this athletic in my entire life. I can now run a 5k (with not problem). I'm begining to think that yes I would like to be super skinny but I kind of like being super in shape more.
And FYI I will be wearing a awesome Blue dress to the wedding!!!!! Even thougth I was not able to be all super skinny I think I'm still going to look awesome in it!!! I'll post pictures as soon as the weekend of the 24th is over!

Wow have I been a total slacker... I haven't done any running for almost a month... I just got busy one week and didn't get to the gym and from there it's history.. So yesterday I signed up for a weight loss competition at the gym to help motivate me and I also signed up for another 5K Novemeber 1st. I think I need to sign up for another before then too. Starting at midnight I will cut my calories and run or do some sort of exercise everday.... I am really determined to drop my weight by at least 20 pounds.

My Weight and exercise tracker:
6/8/09 - 142 pounds - ran 1.6 miles and walked .4 miles
6/9/09 - 141 pounds - worked outside in the yard
6/10/09 - 141 pounds - ran 2.5 miles and walked 1 mile
6/13/09 - 141 pounds - did not exercise



Things I will be doing to reach my goal:

1. watching what I eat (calorie intake)
2. Stop eating junk food
3. Exercise 5 times a week at least.
4. Join the gym (ladies workout express, they have a deal going on right now)
5. train for a 5K.
6. Log into Sparkpeople everday and track my nutrition.
7. Look at all the pages on Sparkpeople of people who have lost weight to keep me motivated.
8. write a Blog everday to account for my actions.
9. Tell myself everytime I even think about getting off track that I CAN DO THIS......
10. And repeat this "I will have total self control over eating junk food it will not control me, I want to loose 30 pounds." everytime I even feel the urge to cheat!!!

I CAN DO THIS!!!!!!


I decided to reward myself when I hit certain weight goals. I'm hoping this helps me to stay focused and reach my goal.

Rewards when I reach my goals!

135lbs- a new pair of shoes (hhmm wonder what I will pick out, all I know is I'm going to go to Nordstroms Rack for them)

125lbs-a manicure and pedicure combo (and I have a coupon for $10.00 off, can't wait to use it)
and I have 3 containers of clothes that I can not fit into yet to rummage through and enjoy. Most are brand new clothes! (this is going to be so exciting)

115lbs-a brand new little black dress, another new pair of shoes, and I'll be due for another manicure/pedicure combo! (I will be getting the works for sure)

My Goals:
I would like to loose 30 pounds and run a 5k in April. I want to feel good about myself and fit into all my skinny clothes again!

My Program:
I've started a 9 week training program that will have me ready for a 5k by April. I'm also going to join a gym to help with my weight loss program.

Personal Information:
I am married to a wonderful man. We will be married 7 years in August and the only 7 year itch I'm feeling is to be his hot skinny wife. We have one daughter that is 12 years old and she is so beautiful.
I live in Chicago, IL

Other Information:
I love hearing from other people and their journey with reaching their goal.

I am sticking around that 140 too, I go down then go back up but its always within a few pounds of 140, ugh. This week I dropped my calories to under 1200 to see if that will help.. before I had been between the 1200 and 1550 like sparks says to, but its not working. when I lost weight before I know I had been eating like 900 calories a day, not healthy... I know, but it worked... (like you said...and it works fast!) and once I got down 124 I was able to eat around 1200 and maintain at 127 which I was happy with...so as unhealthy as it may seem I feel like its the only way!

I had just been reading a book and it said that you can calculate the least amount of calories your body needs to be healthy by multiplying your weight by 8...then thats the absolute rock bottom you should consume. So I have been staying within a few calories of that... so I am 140 X 8= 1120... So I am going to try to do it this way, when your weight drops the calories do too but I figure at that point I will be used to eating less and its a gradual change so hopefully my body can get used to it! Ugh! I feel like I have to go to extremes now that my wedding day is fast approaching, I am running out of time. I will be relieved of so much stress once I get down to my goal weight, that will be one less thing I have to worry about, like yeah I will have to maintain but at least I will be there!

We can do it!!! Keep up the good work with exercising! Walking and running 3 miles in the same day! Thats AWESOME!

Whats the website for that Girls on the Run, run...haha. That sounds fun, I guess it depends how much it costs, with wedding stuff I am running low on cash, theres so much stuff to get and do and so little time! I would love to do another one so if you send me a link to the website I will check it out and let you know! I am doing one this Sunday here in Batavia, which is nice because I won't have to travel and its only $20....plus its a great cause, Child Abuse Awareness. I keep wishing the pounds will just slip off but all the healthy eating and running/walking I have been doing...I go up a few pounds then down a few pounds...so frustrating!! How has your weight loss been going?
