What do you get when you cross a BAMF & a MILF?

''Life''s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, ''Holy sh*t... What a ride!''

When I made my first SparkPeople profile in 2003, I'd lost 60lbs and was training to walk a half-marathon. 6 years later, all the weight was back on and then some, and I decided I was tired of being simply tired of it - and having shed the bad marriage, toxic friends and spirit-crushing responsibilities, and with the support of my mate and my family (and my Sparkfriends), I decided it's time to really DO this! Eighteen months and 75 pounds later, I'm well on my way to being the amazing bombshell I was MEANT to be!

UPDATE (12/18/2014) Hard to revisit all of the achievements I made before, having gained nearly (but not all) of the weight back due to the stress and craziness of nursing school. I only had 2 semesters left, and then started having odd "spells" - went to my doctor and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes. There was NO way to reduce my load and work on my health, so I withdrew from classes in October to focus on getting my health back. The plan is for me to resume classes in May, which will push my graduation date back to January of 2016. A disappointment for sure, but I WILL DO THIS! I consider myself "in training" to go back to school, and have already lost 22 pounds - my doctor is thrilled! So here's to a healthier lifestyle that I can model to my patients - if *I* can do this, so can they!

*Specific goals*
(As of 12/18/2014)

*Get my A1C under 7 so I don't have to go on diabetes medication in January (2015)

*Weigh under 200 lbs by the time I go back to nursing school (May 2014)

* Complete a full (26.2 miles) marathon before my 50th birthday (DONE! Completed the Flying Pig on May 6, 2012, beating my original goal by a full year and a half)

* Do the Warrior Dash in 2015 and make it through EVERY OBSTACLE!

Weight Goals -
*Get out of the morbidly obese category (under 220)
*Get out of the obese category (under 160 lbs)
*Get out of the overweight category (under 130 lbs)

How am I going to get there?

- I will track my food EVERY day
- Cardio: At least 3 days EVERY week
- Strength Training: work back up to at least 3 days EVERY week
- E25K (Euphrates to 5K) at least 2 times per week, building distance back up on the weekends

My Program:
Primarily trying to watch portion sizes and eat a balanced healthy diet, incorporating as much organic and/or locally grown foods as possible.

Being ACTIVE - utilizing the gym at my school (Cincinnati State), walking in my neighborhood, and finding fun ACTIVE activities to enjoy with my mate and my kids.

Personal Information:
Doula, wannabe-midwife, Qadishtu, Priestess of Venus and Vulcan. Completely bisexual, utterly polyamorous - I just love.
Granny Wendy: So Peter, your adventures are over.

Peter Banning: Oh, no. To live... to live would be an awfully big adventure.

- Final lines from the movie "Hook"
From the movie "Parenthood" 1989:
[Gil has been complaining about his complicated life; Grandma wanders into the room]
Grandma: You know, when I was nineteen, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster.
Gil: Oh?
Grandma: Up, down, up, down. Oh, what a ride!
Gil: [sarcastically] What a great story.
Grandma: I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.

Happy Belated Birthday, DONE GIRL

In Sagittarius the Sun is idealistic and optimistic. Sagittarius is the sign that espouses such high principles as universal love and world peace. As this period of the year is associated with the spirit of giving and good cheer, the Sagittarius personality is recognized for its generosity and expansive demeanor. Sag loves to buy gifts for others. Sag is ruled by Jupiter which expands, so the Sag woman can be a big spender, but she works hard and can make a lot of money. Her health area is around her hips, so she can have nerve pain, joint or groin issues. She wanted to be like her Dad, so she loves being outside, and therefore she really isn't cut out to be a Stay-at-home-Mom. She is a hard worker, but she really doesn't love doing housework. She is a Tomboy at heart and a true athlete. She can have a weight issue, since she can overeat, but she really isn't cut out to be fat as she loves to stay active. She loves animals and can work at a job with animals. She can be a college Professor or a tour guide, as she loves to travel. She is very smart. She does have a blunt mouth, so don't ask her for an opinion unless you want to hear it "straight from the horse's mouth." She never keeps a grudge but tells you to your face what she thinks.
You are very gregarious, enthusiastic, and open, in all that you do. You have an ability to understand a broad perspective, and to see everything from a total point of view. Your foresight and an ability to visualize the big picture make matters work out well for you most of the time. Always thinking in broad abstract terms, you usually have trouble focusing on details that arise.
In many ways you are spontaneous, but with this comes an inclination to be bluntly honest and frank, or at least, straightforward and much to the point. You never intend to hurt anyone, but the truth is all important to you, and you never hesitate to tell it like it is. Tact and restraint can be issues of concern, but you probably don't care. You are so independent. You can rarely be pushed an inch in any direction unless you decide the direction your being pushed is where you want to go.
These blows are softened only by your warm, jovial and outgoing friendliness. Even when you stick your hoof in your mouth you can recover and show up as a winner. Often "lady luck" just smiles on you. Sagittarius has a happy-go-lucky, honest, cheerful, and ever optimistic approach to life; but then can turn right around and be so careless, restless and extravagant.
You have a natural love of the outdoors and may develop strong enthusiasm for sports and outdoor adventure. Sagittarius is the sign most often associated with sports, and you are inclined to physical activity and active endeavors, particularly outdoors.
Future-oriented, you rarely allow problems or setbacks to get you down for long. You put disappointment behind you and start working toward your next adventure. Never satisfied with moving along in slow lane, you want to set the pace on a grand scale. Whatever you set out to do, must be the biggest and best. You want to live life to its fullest. You can work well with anybody, accepting them for what they are. You are the natural, open-hearted extrovert, an easy person live and work with. Relying on your glibness and complete self-confidence, you are a natural in the world of selling. Still in the area of organization and perseverance you may need help from other factors in the chart. If you are like most Sagittarius natives, you can be down right irresponsible and unreliable at times. Your personality is such, however, that people don't get upset about it. It's that natural Sagittarius charm that carries you through the tough spots.
Sagittarius is the sign of higher education. You live to expand your horizons in every possible way, wanting to see the world and experience it. You want to meet interesting people and try everything. Your curiosity is boundless and your desire for knowledge is paramount.
