Saving Me From Myself

I am in my mid-twenties and come from a family where weight issues are so commonplace that healthiness is something to talk about. After a car accident in October 2008, I shot up from the uncomfortable weight of 150 to 167. I felt terrible and did not know what to do about it. Especially since I was not allowed to do much upper-body activities until my humerus was completely healed.

When the school year ended, I thought about who I was and who I wanted to be. I looked forward to my wedding in October, but did not want to feel like the fat bride.

As of today, I have reached my goal of 140. I look forward to learning to maintain my weight and stay healthy. I feel wonderful and hope to keep up my motivation despite this level of success.

I am here for support, for guidance, and for motivation.

I enjoyed running, strength training, hiking, and kickboxing with my husband. Our nearest gym is over an hour away, but the road is always open.

How do people take things from perspective? I heard of it, but don't understand it or know how to do it.

Hi. Saw you on the Bookworms Team and noticed that you are an English Teacher. I just joined the team, and I am an English Teacher as well...in Southern New Jersey....Ocean City High School to be exact. Maybe we can share some ideas. What grade level do you teach? Best wishes on your weight loss journey!

"If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now."

"Others aren't staring at you. They're thinking how they should be running, too."

Congratulations on getting married! I'm from Tioga County, too! Mansfield, actually. You're right, nobody knows the definition of nowhere till they've been around here.
