My name is Erin. I am a teacher, mom of two boys (four and one), and wife. I am an avid runner who has completed many road races. My goal is to get back into pre-pregnancy shape.
My weightloss journey has been long. I started losing weight back in May of 2000. I weigh 220 pounds. I joined Weight Watchers, and by my wedding day I weighed 160 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained a few love pounds in the first few months of my marriage. Luckily, I have a supportive husband who was with me through thick and thin, so I was able to get to 157 pounds when I got pregnant with my oldest. Unfortunately, I was really restrictive with my diet, so I gained a ton of weight during my first pregnancy. After having my son, I weighed in again at 225 pounds. I had gained all the weight plus five pounds. Ack! I continued on the path of changing my life for the better, so I incorporated my favorite foods into my lifestyle. I worked on eating the correct portions, and exercising. By the time my oldes was two, I weighed 145 pounds. The smallest I had been since middle school/freshman year of high school. During that time, I got pregnant again. My lifestyle was overall healthy, so I continued to eat right and exercise. I ran two half marathons while I was pregnant, and gained forty-five pounds. I did not go back over the 200 mark. I was really excited. My body is like a turtle. I lose weight slow and steadily. I am ok with this because this is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix.
With that, my middle sister started using sparkpeople and asked if I would try it out with her. I am always interested in weightloss information, so I jumped at the chance. I am really excited about this program because it allows me to look more indepth at the whole picture. I have complete confidence that I will get back to my pre-pregnancy weight!
Returning to my pre-pregnancy weight of 145.
Incorporating more calcium into my diet.
Incorporating strength training into my already great cardio plan.
So far, thanks to the nutritional breakdown on sparkpeople, I have started drinking more milk. I start my morning with a glass of milk while I get ready for work. I have found drinking milk has actually filled me up a little more than I realized. It has been a great bonus to my breakfast.
I really like what sparkpeople does regarding strength training. I have been doing these strength training exercises, and I notice it has helped my running.

I feel great and I do like to play music but I did not today I have a friend that goes with me for now I dont know how long she will last.

My treadmill WAS a glorified clothes rack for a few years, while I was having miscarriages & two babies. I hung onto it, tho, since we foolishly went into debt to buy it. I used pregnancy & small children as an excuse to avoid exercise and to eat poorly, so it's a wonder I didn't weigh more than I did!
Since joining SP in Nov., I use the treadmill nearly every day and do the SP strength exercises, too! Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to get out of the house (i.e. go to the gym) to work out, but at home, I can carve out shorter chunks of time if I need to do so, or work out after the kids are in bed (I live in a small town where the gym isn't open very late).
