Hi, my Spark name is "Smart Eater." I am a 64 y.o. grandmother who has had a worsening weight problem since I became disabled in 2003. I have multiple health conditions now which make it extremely difficult to exercise and I generally have very little willpower when it comes to dieting, however, this time I really seem to be sticking to it thanks to Spark People! I have been a member for three weeks now and have lost 16 pounds in that time. I had lost 11 pounds prior to that within a 6 month period (quite a contrast wouldn't you say)? So, being 27 pounds lighter altogether gives me motivation to continue on. I now try to eat extremely healthy food in small portions. Before joining Spark, it was common for me to eat 1-3 ice cream bars and up to 6 popsickles while watching TV at night. How is that for disgusting! I am currently looking into some type of exercise I can do since I have joint and muscle issues. I'm also a Type II Diabetic. That is another thing, since my calorie intake has come down so much, so have my insulin needs! I'm very HAPPY to be part of this TEAM!!
Basically my goals are to lose weight and get fit so that I can more effectively serve our Lord God. I'm in such bad shape now that it is a pretty ambitious goal, however, I feel determined. I also need to get knee surgery so I can move freely and be able to exercise.
Currently I have placed myself on a 1200 to 1400 calorie diet consisting of very healthy foods, ie. fresh fruits, veggies, lean proteins and the right kind of carbs and fats to satisfy the diabetic aspect and to bring my weight down.
My name is Erin Brostad, I'm 64 years of age, and live in Oak Harbor, Washington. I am A Christian, a knitter, a mom and grandma, have 3 dogs, 2 cats and goldfish. I live together with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. I am retired/disabled.
I enjoy Bible study, reading, TV, Computer, pets, movies, cooking, and trying to keep my sanity.
If I were physically fit I would love to go bike riding in the country and beach combing, camping, and travel. At this point in time, these are some of my goals.
