Getting healthy

Starting off at 227.5 lbs. I did the Atkins diet about 6-7 years ago and lost about 50 lbs and was down to 185. Since then, the weight has nearly all come back. This time, looking to do it right and change my lifestyle. Joined the gym, changed my eating habits significantly. Gave up lot of guilty pleasures, fast food, mayonaise, butter, soda, etc. and it's helping! This all started off as a biggest loser competition with girls from my softball team and is turning in to so much more. I want to learn about nutrition and be fit and healthy. I dream of becoming a runner. I've always been too heavy and too out of shape to be one (not to mention the fact that I hate running). I hope to some day be able to do a 5K, and run the whole thing. I'm not in this alone, my partner has also taken a vow to do this with me. And my friends are also trying to get in better shape and lose weight and become healthy. This is an exciting journey!!

Using the BodyBugg to keep me in check. I don't know how I would do this without the BodyBugg.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California.

The gym is not always the best place to work out - it's good to mix it up a bit. I'm jealous you get to walk in the Bay!! It's slowly becoming warmer here (Minneapolis), but certainly not as beautiful as an ocean view. Have you always lived there?
I like the BB so far. I've had it less than a week, so still figuring out the balance. I LOVE to workout, so on workout days I tend to burn mega calories and not eat quite enough, then eat too much the next day (just wrote a blog about it). How long have you been using yours? Are you happy with it?
As for running, I've been a runner for quite a while. I've done 5 marathons (full) and a bunch of halfs. I love to run. I don't have a "runners" body by any means, which just proves that anyone can do it. It just takes perseverance, patience, and the desire to do it. It's really more in your head than your legs. Believe me.
Okay, enough from me. emoticon Have a good eve.
