The Fabulous and Frustrating 40s

In July 2008, I joined sparkpeople because I had hit my highest weight ever. Daily exercise is part of my life now, but I still have a lot of work to do on the eating side. The 40s are awesome in so many ways, but the big downside is that the weight is harder and harder to take off. I'm happy that I've gotten a lot healthier, but I still have a lot of work to do!

35-45 min/day, 6 days/week of exercise: 3 days/week of running, 1 day yoga, 1 day weights, 1 day "misc." (yardwork, Wii Fit, etc.).

I can't recall if I put it here but I posted on WP about why this DC thing has been in my head for over 20 years.

I'd LOVE to stay longer but my friend and her husband work and taking up a weekend is the most ill do to them.

It's too much disruption having never stayed there before.

Once I stay someplace and ppl feel comfortable knowing my rhythms so to speak, they're usually happy to let me have free reign while they're away but that's too much to ask somebody who doesn't know you that well--or I'd stay cos the RT ticket is paid whether it's a weekend or 2 weeks, ya know?

What type of treatment is Enbrel? I've been trying to avoid shots/pills if possible. I don't have the arthritis side yet, but in the last year or so my skin really got terrible :( Summer is no fun when you feel like you can't wear shorts, cropped pants or dresses!

Thankfully I started phototherapy and it seems to be working. The nurses scared me that I might have huge co-pays, but thankfully it's entirely covered. Yay!!!

Fake mashed potatoes are amazing!! Cauliflower and quick cooking tapioca in crock pot, immersion blend, add cheese (recipe called for sour cream, I didn't have any) - dine!! Delicious!! You won't fool anyone, but they are tasty!! Message me your email (if u want) andi can email you the recipe! Haven't gotten it into spark people yet!!

Finally had to get it into the recipe tracker so i could see how many calories!!!

There are at least 3 Smithsonians I want to get to and that's not counting the Air and Space, which OF COURSE I'd like to see but doubt I'll have time given everybody goes there!

A night outing is a GREAT idea! I hadn't thought of that. I was focusing on what I could cram into day time.

The Holocaust Museum is also on my list but my B list, I'm half-Irish and half-Jewish, it'd hit me harder probably. I didn't visit Pearl Harbour because I just didn't need to go there in my head. It's not that I avoid difficult things -- but I've been given enough in my own life! When I'm on particularly a short stay, I like to keep things positive.

I doubt I'll get to it because of that BUT it's totally a to-do otherwise. One day, I'll probably visit the Israel-itself but I *think* I'd like to do that on a tour (with others). Normally, I just GO someplace and don't do touristy stuff but THIS DC trip? I'm about the touristy :D
