Makin' it RAIN!

I 'm a 28-year old near-newlywed, from (mostly) gorgeous Ottawa, in Canada. I've always been an active person, and was in the best shape of my life in university when I played varsity rugby and coached swimming and skiing. However, I kept nomming like I was first string varsity LONG after I took my first office job, and steadily gained weight ever since. My 'aha' moment came when I looked at a picture of myself at my best friend's wedding and realized that I had achieved *critical mass* as "fat ...
My 'aha' moment came when I looked at a picture of myself at my best friend's wedding and realized that I had achieved *critical mass* as "fat girl in wedding photo." I'm still trying to get up the stones to post that one.

Don't get me wrong... I love my husband, my family, my God, my beautiful country and my badass self, but I don't love that I'm too heavy and not in good enough shape to enjoy any of those things as fully as I should.

SO! Let's get serious, shall we? It's time to drop the hammer and make the twilight of 2011 count for me! I've set myself some big, sexy, goals and made some even bigger promises to myself about how I'll get there.

This year, I'm all in!
This year, I will get it done!
This year, I will MAKE. IT. RAIN.

MY GOALS FOR THE "BACK NINE" of 2011:
1) Get down to 180 for New Years Eve
2) Be able to fit back in to my supa-favourite purple dress (pictured at left)
3) Be able to run a sub-hour 10K

HOW I'LL GET THERE:
**Home in the Range**
Staying within my Calorie Range of 1650-1900/day, but not beating myself up about weekend 'overages' as long as they're modest and don't neglect healthy food to eat crap.
~~~~~~
**Playing to my strengths**
Which are fitness and ST! 3500 calories burned through cardio/week, 3-5ST sessions/week - aim high!
~~~~~~
**Hitting the Road **
- 1000km on the bike by the time the snow flies, and running 15km/week. Meeting my biking goals will "earn" me the road bike I've been dreaming about for a year! Meeting my running goals will "earn" me back the legs I've been missing since 2003 or so... and set me up for my 10K goals!
~~~~~~
**Trying new Things**
- Sea kayaking and a fun outdoor bootcamp are tops of that list! I'm also going to set a goal of trying at least two fitness classes/month at my gym, even if they seem to not be up my alley (i.e. appear to require coordination or cute outfits.)
___________________________
FUTURE 'DREAM' GOALS:
- Running a half marathon before I turn 30!
- Fitting back into my university skinny jeans
- Getting to 'parity' with my husband, weight-wise
- Participating in the Rideau Lakes 200km 2-day bike tour
- Conquering the Crypt Lake hike at Waterton Lakes National Park
- Hiking the Chilcoot Trail
- Getting in good enough shape to start CrossFit! (Shoutout to PHYSEDTEACHER for inspiring this one)!
SHINY, GLITTERY HEART'S DESIRE:
I really, really, *really* want to get back into good enough shape to play rugby again. I want it so badly I can barely write it down. I'm not prepared to get back into the sport unless I can perform at a high level and do so safely and without risking injury, though, so let's make that happen!
Thank you.
Thank you for going back through my blogs and finding exactly what I needed to hear (read).. from my own words. I really can't thank you enough. I needed the 'rah rah' goodie, and I needed someone to remind me what I was doing when I was succeeding and you did this for me. I feel that fire underneath me being fueled.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Hey ladybug! Thanks for your encouragement. I agree with you. As long as we are not in actual pain there is no reason why we can't push our bodies. There is a big difference between being sore and running on a hurt ankle or with a hurt knee or something. I had a great run today and I am super happy about it.
I'm glad you weren't offended with my laughing at your predicament. I didn't think you would be but I am kinda paranoid by nature sometimes. I have had people delete me on here for talking about BMs, my monthly cycle, and who knows what else. You never know who you are going to offend. :)
Hope you are doing well pretty lady. I saw a new razor commercial with Adrien Brody in it and I immediately thought of your husband. Please don't delete me for thinking about your man. It ain't like that. I promise.
Bwahahaha.
:P
I just blogged about my ex-personal trainer but yes, he's behind me. I am excited to move forward. Like you said, it will help me with future clients. Maybe I should thank him. Or not!
