Day of the Dead Run - 5K - Before the race (weight @ 141)
From early in college, weight probably 130-135. I was skinny then! Horse weighs more. :)

When I started sparking, I was overweight and had trouble finding time to exercise. I ate what I wanted and it was catching up to me. Sparkpeople helped me learn to eat the right portion of healthy, tasty food. I started running in January of 2011. I slowly added miles, using the 5k plan for running I ran my first 5k in July 2011. I added distance, trying to get faster, until I was doing 6 miles each Saturday. I ran the Day of the Dead 5k in 25 minutes and 26 seconds, my personal best. I've lost 20 lbs, although the last few lbs are off and on. I joined Complete Runner training program in Raleigh and on April 2012 I ran my first half marathon! I think I can say I'm a runner now.
What's next? I'm biking the 24 Hours of Booty in Charlotte on July 26-27th to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I'm also running the RockN'Roll Marathon in Savannah on November 3rd.

I'm from Stokes County, North Carolina (North of Greensboro). I went to school at UNC Charlotte and worked for a while down in Columbia, SC. Now I'm living in Raleigh, NC with my sweetie.

Hi Elinor! So I feel like I message you a lot and thus bug you... But I know you like 5Ks, and I came across this one that you may like, I am thinking about running it, sounds fun! it's on 10/22 at 8am, not sure if your weekend is taken or not but thought I would send it along!

I know you are a busy girl, but wasn't sure if you knew about the International Raleigh Festival happening 9/30-10/2, I heard is fun and the husband and I were planning on going anyway and I got this Amazon deal... So I thought I would spread the word on the events happening in the city LOL!

Thanks for the Friend Add :D I see you are training for a 5K, how fun! I know you will be able to run a half marathon soon! I actually like them better than shorter races, not sure why, it does take a lot more time but they are fun I think it's the fact that you can "space out" and forget that you are running yet you are and well 13.1 miles is definitely an accomplishment I am proud of! YOU CAN DO IT!
