Hi, I'm 43 and new here. My weight was pretty stable (between 135 and 45, which looks fine on me) most of my life. Then I dropped about 30 pounds during a depression a couple of years ago. I got through the depression, thank goodness, and I have far more empathy now for people who suffer with this their entire lives. Anyway, the 30 pounds came back, and they brought along 20 of their friends! So I trying to get back to me-sized. Though frankly, being a bit overweight beats the heck out of depression; I'd rather be happy than toned (but I'd prefer to be both).

Fitness Minutes: 9,995

My Goals:
I'm hoping to get back down to 135, though I'd be plenty happy with 145, especially if I can get my percentage of body fat down.
I want to get rid of the occasional pain I feel in my back (esp upper back) and knees.
I want to look good in clothes that I looked good in 2 years ago.


My Program:
I'm big into weight lifting (more compound exercises than what Spark lists on their pages) and have started swimming. I don't have a car so I get a lot of incidental exercise biking & walking (a minimum of 2 miles a day, ususally more).
I've been trying to eat mostly real food: veggies, whole grains, meat that's been broiled or braised. My biggest food challenge is a taste for beer & wine (empty calories, but oh so good)

    Ouch... you've got some pretty tough workouts here. In fact you inspired me to hop on the BOSU in our gym with some DB curls. Literally every muscle in my body was working to stay balanced on that thing, not to mention the curls I was doing in the process (awesome but so hard).

    Did I mention OUCH?!! Well thanks for letting me steal some of your workout (I think I'll forgive you when I'm able to move again).
