Update 9/1/12: I'm back! I am very excited to be back, after 9 months of being away...yes, I had my first baby and she is Beautiful!
I feel like I have a small grip on my new baby life now and am ready to lose what I gained and can't wait to get back on track.

I first joined SparkPeople in 2009 and had "streaks" of attendance. I was dealing with some health issues and couldn't quite make heads or tails of what was going on. When I got married I weighed around 140, and within one year I had gained about 40, and then another 20 when I had the courage to check again...and eventually gained more. During that time I went to my doctor and she diagnosed me with PCOS. She told me to lose weight - Really??? Thanks. Well I smiled, and said thank you. I went home and researched - but I never really felt like the classic symptoms fit. I tried several different things, but nothing was sticking. I was exhausted, depressed, homesick, and felt like I had no options. Another year went by and guess what, I gained more weight. And she said the same thing, just keep at it. FYI - I am not a junk food eater and prior to being completely exhausted I was very active and in shape.
Well I was reading a book on PCOS and they highly reccommended meeting with an Endocrinolgist. So I did, and it took 4 months for me to get an Appt! This was the best decision I had made. He did some blood tests and said its not PCOS, you have a slow Thyroid.
I was put on medication and holy smoke, 2-3 weeks later I felt like a different person. I could actually make it through a day. I've been on synthroid for 8 months now, and have finally decided to find the old me. The one who I remember having fun every day and couldn't get enough of life.
We all have that person in us - for me, she's just been bogged down by negativity for so long and to be completely honest, just lost.
So, Sparkpeople is my new map (yep pulled that from the book). I am really looking forward to this journey.

3. Look for the positive, and build on it

Small Goal;
Get into an old pair of jeans by the fall

My Program:
Tracking Calories (which I now think is a lot of fun)

Cardio 6x's a week and strength traing 3x's a week

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and graduated with my Master's from LSU, GO Tigers!!!
I've been a resident of Wichita, KS since 2008 and really look forward to our visits back to the South. Mmmm Shrimp Po-boys...
