Emily's Journey

I am 23 years old and am not happy with the way I look. I really hate exercise, and I really love junk. So, what it comes down to for me, is changing my "lifestyle." The good 'ol cliche "it's not a diet it's a lifestyle," is what I need to focus on. I have been struggling for quite a while with my weight, and I really think it is time I do something about it! I would like to lose 30-35 pounds.

My History:
-High School Graduation in 2006 I weighed around 140-145 lbs. ...
I am 23 years old and am not happy with the way I look. I really hate exercise, and I really love junk. So, what it comes down to for me, is changing my "lifestyle." The good 'ol cliche "it's not a diet it's a lifestyle," is what I need to focus on. I have been struggling for quite a while with my weight, and I really think it is time I do something about it! I would like to lose 30-35 pounds.

My History:
-High School Graduation in 2006 I weighed around 140-145 lbs.

-Went to College and put on a little weight, but I was also walking to class everyday so I got in some exercise. I probably weighed 150-155 through out college.

-Student taught Spring of 2010, and virtually stopped exercising. I was at least standing all day. The weight started piling on.

-After I graduated College in May 2010, I did nothing but wedding planning for our July wedding.

-Did nothing from July until I got a job in September of 2010. A job where I pretty much sit at a desk all day and wasn't exercising. I was probably at my heaviest at this point of 165 lbs.

-I lost 5-7 pounds from last Fall until now. My SparkPeople official starting weight is 158 pounds.

My Program:
I feel that I need to work on a combination of eating healthier (more fruits and veggies and less chips and sweets) and exercising. Before starting SparkPeople I pretty much ate whatever I wanted and really didn't exercise at all. My goal is to exercise at least 90 minutes a week.

Thank you so much for your comment on my first blog post! Swimming and working out in the water DOES burn a lot more calories because of the water resistance and you don't get sweaty or feel like you're working as hard as you actually are! :)
