Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
Hi all, I'm Emily. I'm a 28-year-old attorney who spends most of her day behind a desk and has the body to show for it. Since joining Sparkpeople in February 2007, I've lost nearly 50 pounds, dropped four sizes, and gone from couch potato to triathlete. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose so I figure I'll be a work in progress until at least February 2009, but I'm loving the way I'm feeling and looking these days, so I'm OK with that. Some long-term goals are to run a 10K in under an hour (second attempt at the end of July got me to 1:04), complete an Olympic distance triathlon (going to have to wait until next season), and run a half marathon (scheduled for October 11). Depending on how the half goes, I'll think about trying a full marathon, but I'd probably rather try for a half-Ironman triathlon, which I now have scheduled for June AND July of 2009. Hmm. Maryland or Rhode Island?
And oh yeah, I'd like to lose another 25 pounds and be a size 8. But those goals have become secondary to improving my overall fitness and becoming a faster multisport athlete, which I think is a good thing since this whole weight loss thing is so frustratingly SLOW.
I like the idea of 10% goals, so here are mine:
1st 10%: 202.5 (MET! June 4)
2nd 10%: 182 (MET! Feb 12)
3rd 10%: 164
4th 10%: 147
My overall goal is to get down to something around 150 pounds and to maintain it. I was close in college because I was a rower, but I injured my knee and kind of gave up on rehab, which started the slow weight gain that has led me to my heaviest weight in January 2007, just before I joined SP.
Triathlon training means my workouts include strength training with a personal trainer twice a week, swimming two or three times a week, spinning once a week, biking twice a week, and running two or three times a week. The running has to become more of a priority as I work towards the half marathon in October.
Live and work in Hartford, CT.

Landed on your page today after looking for inspiration about triathlons. I have not ever done one... I am 51 and I am ready to figure this out! So, thanks for the inspiration today.

Thanks for stopping by my page and for the congrats. The last two weren't part of my plan when I started my weight loss journey, but they are both wonderful. I'm really enjoying having an infant in the house again. Now, it's my time!
