Wanting to be medication free

I have type 2 diabetes, and in the past 3 months I've started light exercise (30 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, or bike at my apt. gym) about 3 days a week. It's helping control my blood sugars and my doctor has reduced my medication. I joined an actual gym a week ago and I'm ready to take it a step further.

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to be able to control my diabetes with diet and exercise. I also would like to lose 40 lbs. in 11 months.

My Program:
I track what I eat, walk half mile to the bus every morning and go to the gym on weekends.

I cook on weekends for the rest of the week and pre-pack my lunches for the week in Tupperware lunch containers. I also pre-prepare breakfast in microwaveable sealed bowls so their perfectly measured.
