I started running in September 2011 with the Couch to 5K running plan with the goal of running a Thanksgiving Day 7K in under an hour. In November, I ran the Drumstick Dash in 58 minutes.

In December, I signed up for the Indy Festival 500 Mini Marathon, and started the Ease into 10K program as well as joining an outside running group (in January no less!).

In February 2012, I ran a 5K and beat the time I set for myself (38 minutes). I also finished down ~7 minutes from my previous best time!

In March, I ran my first 10K with my best friend by my side, and finished with a time consistent with my 5K pace (01:18:30). I just need to do that twice to complete the Mini!

In April, I ran a 15K and finished with a time slightly faster than my 10K pace (01:56:01) I felt GREAT for the first 6 or so miles, but mile 8 was really very hard!

In May, I will run my first half marathon in the Indy Mini. My goal is to do intervals of 10 minutes with 3 minutes walking which should put my finish time somewhere around 2:40! Anything under 3 hours will make me extremely happy.

I also just signed up for a short triathlon in June. It is a 500m swim, a 10mi bike ride and a 3mi run. I am excited to train for it- I really love swimming, and now that I'm running for longer I'm not as worried about that part either! I would like to spend the summer working on speed- get my 5K time under 30 minutes and

The truth is, I have hated running my whole life. After hearing about all the health benefits, and the flexibility for a tight schedule, I decided to give it a full year of really trying to see if I can change my attitude. Although I don't love it yet, I may not hate it anymore.
