Taming the Dragon

I am a book fanatic, a tea aficionado, a computer geek (been working professionally in networking, webdesign, etc for over 10 yrs now), an avid game player, a day dreamer and even though maybe not according to average (I do like to walk a lot, dance, explore, etc), an overall much too sedentary person from my own personal point of view. I eat healthy, but not often enough or, as I've been finding out from my food journal, in the right proportions to get the right nutrients in my diet.

I eat healthy, but not often enough or, as I've been finding out from my food journal, in the right proportions to get the right nutrients in my diet.

Since getting married, I've been following my husband's diet of convenient pasta/chips/biscuits and other carbs, more than my old balanced, if whimsical diet of red meats, cheeses, tofu, veggies, fish, whole grains and fruit. I quit smoking over a year ago, and was on birth control for over a year and a half, both of these factors also contributed to my weight gain. I went up from 150 lbs to 198 lbs in just a year and a half. From a size 6 to a size 12.

I've since gotten off the birth control (which was playing havoc not only with my weight, but also my moods), regained use my kitchen (long story), and started cooking again. I also started to use SparkPeople, and have been enjoying by journey back to being fit.

Hola! Today has been a hard one. My daughter decided not to sleep last night at all, and I had to get up this morning regardless of how much sleep I got and I am just worn out!

I did get in a 30 minute workout! yay!

Please read through the Challenge Information if you haven't already and make sure to introduced yourself yet to the team. This is an excited group of folks and really active team so you should be able to find all sorts of inspiration and motivation. Just jump right in. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There's always someone willing to help in any way possible. Don't forget to use the food/water tracker that spark people provides as well as the fitness tracker.
