I am half the girl I used to be! (less then)

I have quit smoking, started running and lost enough weight to feel amazing and feel the best I have ever felt in my life!

My top weight was 330 pounds when I started losing weight 7 years ago, but was around 300 most of my adult life.

I dropped from 330 to 200 in about 3 years from doing exercise and cutting back. Back then I was just doing it all on my own, not really eating healthy but better.

Then I moved from the US to the UK and didn't do much to keep going. I never gained more then 10 pounds during that time, but was stuck between 195-205 for about 2 years.

In April of 2010 I quit smoking and gained 5 pounds and it scared me so I started walking everyday and doing exercise at home via internet videos and Wii, P90X, etc.
I then started adding a little running to my walks. I never ran a day in my life until the age of 41 (in fact, most of my life I struggled to run a bath!). I found the C25K website and within 3 months I ran my first 5K!

During my quit I found a smoking cessation forum on about.com, which eventually led me to the about.com calorie counting website, which led me here!

I started accounting for all the food I put in my mouth through calorie counting and joined the gym, and have since dropped the remaining weight I had been holding onto and am maintaining a weight between 145-150.

Everyday is amazing for me now. My life has always been good, but I now feel good about myself and I just can't describe the change in me. Its made life simple. There is nothing thrown at me that I can't handle!

My main regret is that I didn't 'get it' before I was 40+ and the damage to my physical appearance has been done, with nothing to do about that (except surgery). I regret it, but still so grateful.

The most important thing to remember when you start your journey, is its a life change. You can't lose the weight you want, then go back to the life you lead before. The sooner you realize this, the easier it will be.

LIFE IS GOOD and life is so worth it!

You are a real inspiration for how this is going to be for me when I switch into maintenance a few weeks/months from now.
Thanks for sharing your story!

Carine

I loved reading you blog and your story. I am delighted you have found a healthy life style. It is so true that maintaining is just what you do and the coffee story proves it.

I hope you don't mind if I friend you! Thanks for this great blog.

I'm glad that your blog led me to your page and your amazing story. You're so smart to get control of your life while still young. Yes, you are young to me. I carried my extra weight until I was 61.

OK, it wasn't in the "biggest loser" category, but it needed to go and I needed to stop with the excuses. With SP support that's exactly what I did.

Good to hear from you. I am doing well. I am 2 years 3 months into maintenance..and staying within my range. I need to work on up pounds at times, but feel stable. I am much happier.

I enjoyed your blog and was glad to hear that you are doing well in your maintenance.
