I am a 33 year old teacher from Connecticut. I live with my boyfriend of 9 years and fiance of 1 year, Steve, and our cat, Jacques.

I am a 33 year old teacher from Connecticut. I live with my boyfriend of 9 years and fiance of 1 year, Steve, and our cat, Jacques.

This isn't my first experience with Spark People; four years ago I logged on and dropped successfully dropped 30 pounds. 2009 was unfortunately a ROUGH year for me. First, I took on a promotion at work which tripled my work load; keeping up my exercise routine became very difficult for me!

Then in early November 2009, I broke my foot in what can be termed a true freak accident. I went running up the stairs and banged my foot hard enough on the edge of the stairs to snap my 5th metatarsal. OUCH! The healing process did not go very smoothly and I ended up spending approximately 13 weeks in 3 separate casts. My final cast came off February 24th however I still had to wait 6 weeks before I was given the okay to start PT and go back to the gym.

When I was cleared to start exercising again I took up Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. I continued to exercise and lose weight. I was promoted to a green belt (about a 18 months of training) when I fell and ruptured my ACL and MCL. One surgery and a very long recovery later I've decided to make a fresh (re)start of 2013 with Spark People and get myself back into shape! Wish me luck!

I never really paid attention to my weight or health. I used to rely on what I called the "pinch test" to determine my overall fitness: how much flab could I pinch between my fingers. I figured that I could hide the weight well. When I finally realized how ridiculous that was I weighed in at 190.5 pounds and was starting to grow out of a size 14!

I've never kept track of my weight so I don't have a weight I'm trying to "get back to." Instead I've determined what a healthy BMI and weight would be for my height and I'm working towards that number. I'm shooting for the 130lb range and if I miss it by a few I'll be okay and if I lose a couple of dress sizes in the process I'll be happy!

Finally I have 2 really sexy pairs of jeans that I bought and have never been able to wear! I'd like to squeeze myself into them finally instead of simply having to look at them!

My Goals:
1. Get myself into a healthier weight and BMI

2. Take better care of the skin I'm in!

3. Leave size 14 behind forever...what size am I really?

4. Be able to fit into shorts and my red bikini without being embarassed

5. Feel truly confident/beautiful/sexy always!

My Program:
1. Eat between 1200-1550 calories a day

2. Drink my eight glasses of water daily

3. At least 3-5 servings of fruit and veggies daily

4. Exercise regularly

5. Maintain a low sodium diet

I've joined a biggest loser competition. My goal is to win!

Although it would be nice to hit 130 around july 1st! =)

Thanks for checking out my page! I find it helpful to write down what I'm feeling as I go. I'm trying to stick to some of the south beach diet principles so that is why I was trying out eggs for breakfast. Congrats on the sexy jeans! I think one of my motivational prizes will be a pair of designer jeans (in a smaller size) when I get to 170! Have a great weekend!
