I can pretty much say the same thing for the start of this year as I did last year - fibromyalgia continuing to worsen in 2011, some more pounds gained - and still not wanting to be discouraged. One encouraging thing is that the fibromyalgia worsened and the weight went up only until the beginning of August 2011. I then began a new treatment that has really made a huge positive difference in my life (advanced orthogonal treatment - properly aligning the atlas of my neck, the very top vertebra). I am so grateful to God for helping me find this!
January 1, 2011:
The year 2010 brought unexpected health challenges for me, especially the worsening of my fibromyalgia. So I actually ended up gaining four pounds during the year instead of losing some. Still, I do not want to be discouraged. I can start from where I am and move on. The nice thing about a new year is the feeling of having a fresh start. Here we go . . . !
January 1, 2010:
I wish I had done better in 2009, but I can start now and set a new goal that I believe is do-able. So I think it best to "start over" with the weight loss.
Note added November 8, 2009:
NOTE TO MY SPARK FRIENDS: I'M NOT ABLE TO BE AS ACTIVE ON THE SITE AS I HAVE BEEN IN THE PAST. (I'M IN A CHALLENGING PATCH WITH THE FIBROMYALGIA AND CHRONIC FATIGUE.) BUT YOU'RE STILL IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. LOVE TO THE SPARKIE'S SPARK PLUGS TEAM - YOU ALL ARE SUCH A BLESSING, AND I THANK YOU!
What am I delighting in? That's the big question.
As a Christian, I want to delight in my Lord Jesus Christ, and in His Word, above all else. When I do so, everything else falls into its proper place. People will come next--my family, my friends, my clients, and others. Other things, including food, will have much less importance. I'm far from perfect (sooo far from perfect!), but this is what I'm striving for.
My goal is not to complete a "diet" in the usual sense of the word. I've done that before and ended up gaining back much more than I'd lost! My goal is to establish healthy habits of eating and exercise - habits that will become part of my life for the rest of my life.
January 1, 2010 -
Since I want to lose two pounds a month this year, I need to "subtract" 7,000 calories per month through eating less and exercising (3,500 per pound). That works out to subtracting 1,750 calories per week, or about 350 calories per day (for five days out of the week).
I don't have a set program - or maybe it's that I switch it around a lot! I'm just trying to work continually on healthy habits of eating and exercise. And when I "mess up," I just get right back on track. The weight is coming off very slowly, but it's going the right direction - DOWN. And, while I still have excess fat to get rid of, the regular exercise has given me good muscle tone. So it's working :).
I live and work in Safety Harbor, Florida. I am blessed beyond measure to have wonderful family and friends. They make me feel like the richest person in the world! Besides that, I love my work as a wedding planner (Joyful Wedding Planning). Really, I am tremendously BLESSED!
In spring of 2009 I worked on a study that had me determine 3 major life goals. Here they are:
1. Live my life in such a way that I bring joy, not grief, to my Lord
2. Be a supportive, encouraging, joy-giving wife and mother and daughter
3. Make life easier and more joyful for the people God has put in my life for me to serve
