Boy, have things changed since the last time I was logged on here! In Summer of 2010, during a routine physical, my doctor found a lump in my neck. Several different doctors later, I was tested by an endocrynologist who found my thyroid to be underactive, but he refused to treat it, because it was "within normal ranges." So, I asked for a second opinion and was able to get the Egg McMuffin of all endocrynologists. Not only did she find that I had elevated blood sugar (pre-diabetic, insulin resitant), but she also biopsied the lump in my neck and found atypical cells. So she sent me to a surgeon to have half of my thyroid removed, and when he went in, he found thyroid cancer, so he took the whole thing. Now I'm on thyroid hormones, and meds for my blood sugar, and I've lost over 30 lbs since August.
