About me: I'm 29, work as a web developer at a small ad agencey, and live with my fiance, who I've been with for 10 years, and our two cats.

My favorite sport is martial arts; I used to do Choy Li Fut kung fu, but currently do mixed martial arts (tae kwon do, muay thai, Gracie jiu jitsu and boxing). I also have a love-hate relationship with running. I used to have knee problems, but after practicing Chi Running for about nine months, my knees have never been better.

January 2012: After flirting with the Primal Blueprint diet last fall, I'm back on board, and this time the fiance is doing it with me! This is definitely a way of eating that makes me feel better, and it's supporting my active lifestyle, plus helping me lose a little bit of weight and build muscle. It's worth it despite all the cooking that goes into it -- but, it is nice to finally know how to manage my own kitchen, haha. More info at www.marksdailyapple.com and www.westonaprice.org

Hey again! I did start Primal on Monday and I love not feeling hungry all the time. You are right about not feeling well, I definitely have the low-carb flu but I think I reached ketosis so it's all good! Looks like your fitness plan is going really well, I hope you are still having tons of fun!

Thanks for your thoughts.

I watched Fat Head on Netflix...and while I agreed with a lot of what is being said, there are so many other well made documentaries, books, websites and studies that say different. Thing is, anyone can say anything, you know? It really feels like every group is saying something different...often even the exact opposite. Makes it hard to weed through and decide what is true.

Of course one thought I am entertaining is that maybe they all have truth to them. Maybe some people do better on low carb diets and other people do well with whole grains.

I haven't committed to anything at this time, but I am experimenting with reducing grain and sugar. I will say that yesterday I had eggs, veggies and bacon w/coffee for breakfast, no lunch, and I ate some snacks over the course of 4 hours while I was at school (a banana, some almonds, string cheese, a couple of small slices of an almond/flax/parmesan crust pizza I made on the weekend) and I had no sugar or grains at all until I got home, when I wanted something sweet and had yogurt and butterscotch chips.

I found that I did feel a lot more alert and pleasant throughout the day. I also noticed that for the first time in my academic life, I didn't feel dragging or sluggish during a night class. I felt pretty perky all of the way until we got out at 9:15pm. Maybe this was the food...or perhaps just nerves about being back in a classroom. Something to think about in any case.

Another problem I am having is trying to shake what I've been taught about grease and eggs. I felt a little weird when I cooked with bacon fat (left over from yesterday) this morning....and I've been eating a lot of eggs. I normally eat them a couple of times a week anyway, but the idea of eating them several times a day, while delicious, still makes me nervous.

It's hard to flip 180 all of a sudden, you know? :P

Hi Elaine! I am feeling great doll! How are things with you? Good to hear that you are "ready to rumble"!
I am going to read up on the primal diet, it's pretty much how I eat most of the time but I do have my slip ups! emoticon
