Update 11/4/13: Somewhere in the period of selling my house and moving to another house, I lost my exercise regime....I basically stopped running altogether and have not been able to get back at it... this has resulted in more weight gain than I'd like to admit, so I'm back to starting over! I know what I need to do and just need to get back at it. Spark on friends!
Update 7/15/11: Somewhere in June, I got to my goal weight. The biggest thing I have changed was in trying to turn my running to lose weight into running to run! I love the way it makes me feel fit all over. I haven't changed my calorie intake much, but do allow for some extras at time, such as 2 cups of cherries vs. 1 or a few more nuts than I used to have. I still track my food. I am as happy as could be and have slowly won over my husband to my way of thinking. He has lost over 40 pounds just eating the same stuff I do (even though a little more..) My daughter has decided to try cooking healthy and my son, being an athlete, values some of the knowledge I have learned about the value of food as it applies to our bodies. I feel that understanding and respecting food has been my biggest helper. I have lost weight before but only through counting calories. It didn't matter what type of calories they were. Now I still read and research foods to ensure that my body is getting what it needs for daily living, not to mention running! I love spark and my spark friends!
9/30/10 I would like to lose weight (again) and actually be able to keep it off. My biggest challenge is maintenance. I gain back all of the weight plus a little more each time. A healthy lifestyle is my goal. My kids are almost all in college and I want to focus on myself.

My goal is not just to lose weight this time. I know that I don't properly support my body with good nutrition and exercise. What I want is to be healthy (even though I hope that means losing pounds also!)
I am trying to follow the nutrition guidelines when eating my food each day. I love fruits and vegetables, but didn't eat enough of them in the past. For me, they cure my sweet tooth.
I am also trying to do cardio 3 days a week and some strength training along with that.
I am a 46 year old mother of three amazing kids. I have delighted in my kids and spent every possible moment with them that I could. I also work full time in Washington DC, as an accountant, which seriously cuts into my free time...(commuting from Maryland.) I am also happily married to Jim.
I love dogs, hiking, exploring of any kind, traveling, being with my family, being with my friends, rain, exercising, balancing my checkbook to the penny, and other yet to be discovered things..... (working on this section still.)

We have a 4-day week end ahead, 1st May is bank holiday, and we get Friday off - will have to work for it next Saturday, but 4 days is 4 days! : )

I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise so much - a few extra pounds are a small price for that, and they will disappear soon after you get back to normal.
I took a day off to spend time with kids of my sister, they live in Spain so we can't meet often. Had a wonderful time at the playground.
Just before leaving my little nephew almost fell off one of the toys, I caught him but hit my knee badly... so now I'm a bit worried about my runs and yoga workouts this week. I guess it is nothing serious, as most of the pain went away in a few minutes and I can walk.
