Happy 2008 everyone! I'm glad to be ringing in a new year with a new determination to keep loosing! I slacked off over the holidays ... well really from October through the holidays. I held steady with almost no weight loss most of the time, but then gained about 5 lbs in December. Half of that is gone, and hopefully the other half will follow shortly and I'll be back on track toward my goal.

I really enjoy cooking and adapting old family favorite recipes to be lighter and healthier ... and your kind comments on my recipes always brighten my day. Most of the dishes are nothing fancy ... I like quick easy meals as much as the next working mom ... but my family does like to try new things and explore different flavors. So I try not to get into a rut of cooking the same 4 or 5 meals over and over every week.

My son asked "Santa" for a gym membership for Christmas and has been really using it from mid-December ... he seems to love it, so hopefully he'll keep up the good work. I'll post updated pictures of him soon! I've yet to decide to join him for a 'guest visit' ... but I am back to doing my Pilates and other exercise DVDs at home each night.

My daughter is growing from a little girl into a young lady (as my mom keeps saying.) I don't want her to become obsessive about her weight, but I do try to encourage healty meals and snacks as much as possible and she is very receptive most of the time. She's my body type and she'll probably never be a size 2 or 4 ... but hopefully she can avoid the 'plus size' issues I've dealt with over the last many years.

My Goals:
I'd like to lose 80 lbs from where I started at the end of Oct. 2006
... when I first came to Spark my goal was 70 lbs. but now that I've passed 50 I really don't think another 20 is going to do the trick ... so I'm aiming for another 30!

(I've lost 66 as of 2/13/08)

Ultimately, I could probably lose 100 lbs. and still be in a reasonable weight range, but that would put me at high school weight and I just don't know that I want to aim for that at this point.

My Program:
I'm roughly following Weight Watchers, though I'm not a 'member' ... just using resources on the web and books from friends who have been a part of WW at various times.

I try to do a low impact aerobics DVD each night and do some ab work based on classes I took long ago. Maybe as the weight comes off I can amp up the 'work out' portion of my program. UPDATE: My new love is Windsor Pilates!!! It's not a great Cardio work out, but I love it for toning and I always feel so stretched afterwards.

Great recipes! How do you put a link to your recipes on the message boards?
