My quest for a healthy and happy life

Hello--I'm Erin. I'm 43 happily married and living in Ann Arbor Michigan. I've tried all sorts of ways to lose weight since I graduated from college--this is the first one in a long time that is really working for me.

I've been on SparkPeople for a few years now and toyed with the same few pounds--up, down, up, etc. I think I finally figured it out--when you don't do the work--tracking food, exercising, portion control--you don't get the results you want. Duh.

I recently (March 2014) had my gallbladder removed after 2 years of abdominal pain and am using this as a restarting point for really taking care of myself. Because that's what this really is about, right?

My Goals:
Long Term-down below 180 or even less. I have been heavy for so long I don't even know what normal looks like for me.

Short term-
**I will do cardio exercise at least 4-5 times per week and weight training 2-3 days
**I will run a minimum of 4 5K races this year; some of the above cardio will also be runs.
**I will eat within my allotted calorie range and aim for 5 fruit/veggie servings/day
**water water all the time; trying to drink a little less wine

Get healthy eating and regular exercise to be second nature.

Short term: under 200# by Spring 2012 (I have modified this goal because it is not healthy for me to lose all that by New Years; goal weight 170#, maybe lower.

Finish running 6 5Ks in 2011.

My Program:
Tracking calories on Spark People, regular exercise including running, cardio workouts and pilates/yoga.

Personal Information:
Michigan native, obsessed knitter, occasional mountain biker and very amateur runner.

Thank you for all the info on my blog about bra's and where to get them! I will most definitely check out the places you suggested. I go to Plymouth every now and again so I just may check out the store you mentioned.

I did a Running Fit 5k and didn't even realize that they were a store too until after the fact. I will check that out too.

How far is Plymouth/Northville from A2? We are looking at some Kona Running Company 5k's this year and they all seem to be in that general area.
