Now, This is my story:
I have always done for everyone and including my animals. This one is for me!
My story is a little different. I have been in the Natural Health world since the late 1980's and that natural health was the way I needed to go when I was facing life or death in my own health.
I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease that the doctors gave me 6 months to live if I didn't take their predinisone and Chemo!
My insurance cancelled me. Because I wouldn't follow the doctors
plans.
I think they were afraid of a liver transplant cost. And that was another stumbling block. With no insurance my blood tests I had to pay out of pocket and the blood work costs a fortune by itself.
Lets' start at the beginning. All of this started in 2002. Auto-Immune Hepatitis. My Immune system was attacking my liver.
The doctors said there was no cure, just a big bandaid using their drugs. I would not accept it. I stayed positive. Positive thoughts and only positive people around me.
First things first, I fired my doctor and never took any of their drugs (chemotherapy, Prednisone, etc..). I did everything naturally and the last three blood works I ordered came back at normal levels. (And the Docs said I couldn't do it!) Because my problem was with my immune system and that can't be fixed. And to add insult to injury My thyroid was not working well and I was going through menopause. All which contributed to weight gain. I was so involved with trying to get my liver functioning again and my immune system to refire itself, my weight just kept going up. The situation wasn't a good one . I just had to start somewhere. This is a lot of health issues so I took the first steps to taking over my life, my health and my thoughts!
I worked very hard to get my health back. And to keep my positive thoughts. Now I need to work very hard to get back to my skinny weight. I can do this, one day at a time, one pound at a time.
And that is what I am doing. I am down 83 lbs now. But I am not done yet. I am still a work in progress.

I am a Sales Associate for a Supplement Corporation. I love my job and the people I meet through my job. I also have a 2nd job helping people with detoxing. So I work approx. 12 hour days sometimes.

I have a group on FaceBook called "Natural Remedies, Natural Health" and here on SparkPeople I am a Team Leader Please join me and the members for a lot of Knowledge, Support and Fun.
The link is the only Spark Team on my page. Hope to see you on the team!

Here's to friendship and Good Health!!

No, that was an online picture, but we have had cows! I have even bottle-fed calves.

Before you go to the bother and expense of raising your own beef, make sure you have someone to butcher it. Also, they are herd animals so you will need at least 2 or it won't settle down. A cow & calf will do nicely.

This is the first year in about 20 that we are not raising our own beef - the cost of grain has gotten too high. I know, you want to have organically grass-fed beef but there are still costs like hay and we did feed-out with corn although our cattle were free-range, not penned up like so many do.

My preference is for milk-fed beef but you still must assure the cow has enough feed to sustain it.

We did raise chickens one year and I will never do it again for meat. Eggs yes, meat no. Matter of fact, we have about 2 dozen Banty Chickens right now - their eggs are so tiny, they're adorable! It takes 24 to make a dozen eggs, lol.

I'm not telling you not to, but you will not find someone to butcher chickens for you and truly the meat wasn't as good as what you can buy in the market. They grow them too fast in the market but it really does make the difference in the meat. (used to be 6lbs in 6wks but now it's 9 lbs in 9 weeks) You could be giving up more than you're getting.

Mainly I am just advising you to do your homework. It could save you some grief down the road.

Thank you for commenting on my pictures. It was the smartest decision I ever made to just get the weight off instead of taking pills.

hugs,
linda

I joined your team - left your team - and came back to your team.

It was nothing you did - it was me being confused after joining 2 teams - then I came back and read your page and was so inspired that I rejoined immediately.

I don't know how active I will be but you are truly an inspiration on what eating healthy can do.

hugs,
linda
p.s. the other team I left and will not rejoin because I don't believe in what they are doing. I can't allow myself to ever follow anyone blindly. that's why we were given brains.

Hello my SPARKling Friend.....

As we are MARCHing into SPRING...
I just wanted to share this quote for You from me....

“This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days,
smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds,
laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart,
hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see,
friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe,
confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself,
patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”

May this March & Spring...
