2012 ....
jan 1, 2012 ... new years resolution to get fit ... i have never been on a diet to lose more than 5 or ten pounds .... have always succeeded, never tried for more ... 185 pounds identified areas to work on: cardio, strength, nutrition, diet coke addiction jan 4, go out to exercise and it is BITTER COLD ... last two minutes... go back home ... drive to gym and join ... sign up for weekly trainer ... 184 pounds exercised 19 days in january february 1 ...
jan 1, 2012 ... new years resolution to get fit ... i have never been on a diet to lose more than 5 or ten pounds .... have always succeeded, never tried for more ... 185 pounds identified areas to work on: cardio, strength, nutrition, diet coke addiction jan 4, go out to exercise and it is BITTER COLD ... last two minutes... go back home ... drive to gym and join ... sign up for weekly trainer ... 184 pounds exercised 19 days in january february 1 , realize i need more cardio to burn calories ... begin love affair with treadmill .... my kindle and i spend a lot of time there .... exercised 24 days in february march 7, think i have the exercising thing under control, decided to go the next step and track nutrition... found SPARK PEOPLE (yay!) ...182 pounds exercised 24 days in march april 3, 175 pounds for two BRUTAL weeks ... uh oh, a plateau.... realized i needed to increase my cardio ... needed a plan ... more than just reading my book on the treadmill (although i do love that and do it still) .... joined 5k your way ... and chose the most fit one .... 5 weeks to 5k exercised 30 days in april ... oh YEAH! may ... starting may at 172 pounds ... have my cardio under control .. have my nutrition tracking under control .... kick caffeine? or start my strength training .. um ... strength training ... start the spark program spring into shape bootcamp challenge .... may 8, finished the 5k my way challenge ... ran my 5k in 35 minutes 30 seconds .... my goal was 36 minutes .... so i won .... 170 pounds.... exercised 25 days in may (the 1st through 25th then went on vacation) .... on the 25th, weighed 168 june 10, 168 pounds ... a plateau that i have been on FOREVER it seems... so, to mix up my workout, i'm going to run for endurance not increased speed .... today, to start, jogged 50 minutes with a two minute walk at 30 minute mark ... made it 4 miles in 49.45 .... so, i'll start running for an hour two or three times a week .... and worry less about how fast and how far .... but just keep going .... hopefully this is enough different to get through the current stalled weight loss ... july 4th ... ran my first 5k in 25 years....38 minutes ... wanted to break 40 .. wish i had broken 12 minute miles .... next time .... weigh 165 ... haven't been exercising as well or losing as fast because of back pain ... but working through it .... july 15th ... have been nearly not exercising ... back pain .. ugh ... but i am vowing a long exercise streak starting ... NOW .... 164 pounds. sept. 23 .... in july august and september, i exercised 55 days in a row ... i was doing great ... running farther and faster ... feeling good ... and then i got sick ... had a fever for 8 days ... was sidelined for three weeks. so now i'm starting over. fresh. new. i hope! just jog/walked 2.5 miles in 35 minutes .... slow and short ... but at least something .. day 1 of my new streak.. 163 pounds
