For Myself

I need to take care of myself for myself, but I know that it impacts my three daughters.
I've worked in professional kitchens since the early 1970's. Food is a major part of my life. Being a woman in a male dominated field was a struggle back when I started. Being an older woman in a physically demanding industry is a struggle too. I enjoy the struggle. I enjoy the long hours, the heat, the noise. The food.
In my early 50's my metabolism started to slow down. Whoops.

Other Information:
The year that I turned 50 I went on my first hike. My husband is a big hiker, and I wanted something else to share with him. Since then I've been hiking to celebrate all our 'milestones' - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. Living in up state NY, we do a lot of Adirondack hikes, but we also hike in the Shawangunks and the White Mountains of NH.

Hello, friend. Happy Memorial weekend! Thanks for your support on my blog....hoping the support DH and I are giving to one another will work as well as the stragegy for strength training that you and your guy are doing. Time will tell. In the meantime, we need to get through today.

Your weather has got to be getting nice for all of your hiking. Have a great weekend! emoticon

We grew white and blue pumpkins one year but the GS's love the giant pumpkins. Once they are done with them, we feed them to our goats.

Everything in the garden did just fine as it didn't get as cold as they predicted. The kale is nestled in grass clippings so I just covered them and they look great.
