Live Deeply

What does it mean to be this embodied spirit? I'm in my 47th year of discovery. Join me on my journey! I am joyfully exploring all the many ways to truly take care of myself and to live deeply.

"When we take the time to re-connect with ourselves, replace our fears with trust, and learn to let go of the things we cannot control, this is taking care. When we listen to our intuition, embrace all of our imperfections, and stay authentic to who we are, this is taking care. When we ground ourselves in the present, and make mental space to find clarity, this is taking care. When we discover our interior barriers and find courage to dissolve them, this is taking care. When we learn to be gentle with ourselves, this is truly taking care." ~Cat Li Stevenson, www.tinybuddha.com

"Our bodies know that they belong; it is our minds that make us homeless." ~John O'Donahue

"It is only when we have the courage to face things exactly as they are, without any self-deception or illusion, that a light will develop out of events by which the path to success may be recognized."
~I Ching, Hexagram 5, Hsu, Waiting (Nourishment)

"...the objective isn't to look different (changing your body), but to look differently (changing your state of awareness). ~Martha Beck

"The extinction of craving is the end of suffering."
~The Buddha

"To be free is to be without anxiety about imperfection."
~Tara Brach

"The full benefits and fruition of meditation cannot be experienced or enjoyed when we are not grounded in our bodies. The phrase from the early text, when understood fully, implies not only that we are able to touch enlightenment with our bodies, but that we must do so--that in fact there is no other way to touch enlightenment except in and through our bodies."

~Reggie Ray, "Touching Enlightenment"
(Tricycle, Spring 2006)

"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
~The Buddha

"Begin making choices based on what makes you feel freer and happier, rather than how you think an ideal life should look. It's the process of feeling our way toward happiness, not the realization of some Platonic ideal, that creates our best lives." ~Martha Beck

"The Buddha Way, in essence, is leaping clear of abundance and lack."
~Eihei Dogen, from "Shobogenzo (Treasury of the True Dharma Eye)"

"Our body is precious. It is a vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care."
~Buddha

"Overeating is often an attempt to ground the body."
~Anodea Judith

"There is never enough of what does not satisfy."
~Nirmala

"Practice the simple but powerful art of always beginning again."
~Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein, "Insight Meditation"

"Stillness is where creativity and solutions to problems are found."
~Eckhart Tolle, "Stillness Speaks"

"The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts."
~Marcus Aurelius

My Goals:
My goals are to consistently exercise, eat healthy foods, and manage stress for the benefit of my overall health and well-being.

My Program:
Practice mindful eating, exercising, and self-care daily.

Personal Information:
I am an Anglophile and a book-lover with a penchant for chinoiserie. My free time is spent traveling & exploring, reading English literature, eastern philosophy, science-fiction, and fantasy. When I’m not reading, I’m crocheting, writing, baking scones, drinking tea, taking mindful walks, doing yoga, and meditating.

Other Information:
Tea's proper use is to amuse the idle, and relax the studious, and dilute the full meals of those who cannot use exercise, and will not use abstinence.

~Samuel Johnson

This cup of tea in my two hands in mindfulness is held uprightly. With body and mind I dwell in the very here and now.

I love your May teacup background. I used to have a notecard set of vintage flower paintings and the Lilly of the Valley was my favorite. Such a pretty and sweet background! Hope you have a lovely May.
