EarthGirls Are Crazy!

HI! My name is Wendy and I was banded on Feb. 28, 2011. I've been overweight since I was 14 and have pretty much tried every way possible to loose the extra weight. I have gained and lost the same weight (and added some from each attempt) for years and the cycle of gaining and loosing has been disheartening to say the least. In October 2010, I went to my doctor and she recommended Lap Band. So I let my Type-A personality have some fun and researched. On November 6, 2010, I started the process ...
On November 6, 2010, I started the process for insurance approval. I weighted in at 335 and started to go to a support group. On December 24, 2010 I weighed myself and discovered that I had gained 13.8 pounds bringing my weight to an all time high of 348.8. Needles to say I got my stress eating under control and started to work through issues. On BANDING DAY I weighed in at 309.8 and a week out of surgery I now weigh 295.8. I am excited about the possibilities, but I have my work cut out.

Hi Wendy!

How are you doing with your band so far? It has definitely been an experience and one that I wish I would have done years ago but am so happy I finally had the courage to do it. I'm still working on getting my correct fluid level in my band but I'm finally starting to see some results from it. You are going to do great!!! Sparkpeople is such a great place to meet new people and get tons of support.

Have a great day! Jamie emoticon

Hi Wendy!
Thank you for reading my blog and for all your support.
It is interesting about the travel, some experience issues, some don't. But I believe it is better to be prepared!
Hugs,
Angela

Hope you don't mind hearing from a supporter of someone who recently had by-pass surgery! My daughter started at about the same weight you did and is having very encouraging results. It's amazing to watch her journey! Like you she knows there are still lots of challenges ahead, but it must be wonderful to feel you are now able to face them with an even chance of success! So - what kind of support is really helpful to you? I really want to be there for my daughter, but don't want to get in the way, either!
I'm a dieter, too and working on my own issues. I'm finding this website very helpful. I'm glad I noticed your page and would like to hear about your progress.
