Trying to fight the stereotype that pastors are overweight white men

I am a young woman who is also a Methodist Minister in North Carolina. Our health insurance (like everyone's) has skyrocketed partly because of the number of unhealthy clergy people who don't take the time to take care of themselves. I don't want to be one of those people. So I try to work out 3-4 times a week. I just started runnning a couple of months ago and hope to start running in some races. Running and yoga are great stress relievers for me. I am generally happy with my body, but ...

EAGYOW -

Happy end of June!

Do you have a new appointment? It seems so many of the UMC clergy I know are in transition this time of year.

Any races coming up? I am one month away from my first 5k; I have been in boot camp training for 1 month now and am amazed at how I can now run, even a bit.

I agree w/the need to offer positive lifestyle models for our congregations and the greater world, who often see clergy as oversized white men.

Blessings on your ministry this summer!
