WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!

So, it's 2011 and time for an update. I met a lot of fitness goals in 2010. I did a 5-mile trail run, a race up 52 flights of stairs inside a high-rise building, 2 bike rides of 30 miles and 49 miles, a 10k, and a sprint triathlon. Unfortunately, I did all of these without any real discipline or training. That leaves me feeling proud of myself for at least doing the races I wanted to do but disappointed knowing that I could have done them a lot better, if I had trained.
What I need this ...

What I need this year is to push myself. To really work on inceasing speed and being consistent. That is what will really make me proud of myself.
I don't know how many races I'll get to do because my husband is unemployed, so spending money on registrations is not in the cards right now but that doesn't stop me from racing myself on my own routes and seeing improvements. Then, when he is working again, I'll get to do the races knowing that I'll do better.
On a side note, I'll also be finishing my Master's degree in May, 2011. I'm looking forward to having that done and not taking up any more of my time!

My Program:
After a crazy knee injury and surgery, I had to go through physical therapy for months. That really got me back into running and feeding my competitive side. So I'm exercising, trying to eat less and better foods.

I'm curious about the Mansfield triathlon. I see there is one in March, too.And, I'm considering it! I really want to do a pool swim for my first tri. My mom lives about an hour away and I'm wondering if that'd be too far to drive the morning of a race.

Anyway, are you doing the March event?

I am running the Dallas 13.1 in october!

Are you on the spark dallas team? Several of us met up at a 5k this morning. There was talk of having an event every 6 weeks. You should sign up!

Hi! Thanks for the comment on my page. Are you doing the Big D Climb again this year? I was planning on it, but now it is iffy.

I am coming to Fort Worth to do the Cowtown 10K. I think 2 other SPers will be doing it, too. My next Half is in St Louis in April.My sister-in-law is running her first marathon then, so I'm joining her but only doing Half.

Great on being almost to the 1/2 way point on your healthy weight goal. The end of the year is not here yet. Make that goal by the end of the year and make yourself into a newer New You emoticon

It was me... the gel is CarbBoom. It is made of real fruit, goes down easy, doesn't have that chemical aftertaste, and doesn't coat your teeth like so many of them do. They have some awesome flavors too. Some running stores are starting to carry limited flavors, biking stores carry more usually, and I order it by the box (you can get an assorted flavor box) from www.gotbody.com.
