My babygirls Columbia, Magenta (RIP), Janet Weiss (RIP), Betty Monroe (RIP) and DeeDee :)
I'm a 25 year old social/cultural anthropology graduate student, an injured distance runner anxiously awaiting my return to the sport and a hip and foot that are pain free. For now I want to shed those pity pounds that have crept up since the injury back in mid-July of 2006.
Approximately 3 years ago I made the jump into a healthy lifestyle. I was close to 200 lbs., a far cry from the 114 lb. figure skater I had always been. I hopped off my butt, put down the burger and decided to learn to run. It was not long before I fell in love with the sport, dropped 64 lbs. and learned to love myself again. Now I need to re-teach myself that love.
My ultimate goal is to stay in shape both physically and mentally while battling injuries and being away from the sport I love.
I'm sticking to pool running for my cardio until I can get these injuries under control. It's tough but worth it in the long run. I never thought I'd be so restricted to movement since I'm used to 75+ km weeks of running. It's tough but I hope to be running again this fall.
I'm a Newfoundlander born and raised, true to my little island. A social/cultural anthropology graduate student and I work at The Running Room part time in both sales and coaching Learn to Run clinics. My true loves are my family and friends, both furry and non.
My 5 rats, 2 ponies, boxer, 3 kitties, 2 Syrian hamsters, and albino African clawed frog are my little kiddos.
I am also a gaming addict, collector of horror films and Garfield merchandise and love to read.
My family, both human and furry, are my life. I'm the proud mom of 5 ratty girls named Columbia, DeeDee, Chrissy, Barbara and Sidney, 2 Syrian hamsters named Cash and June, 1 boxer named Caesar, 2 ponies named Star and Cisco, 3 kitties named Autumn, Harlem, and Maggie and an albino African clawed frog named Kermit D. Frog. Creative, I know.
I'm also an avid horror film collector, reader, Terry Pratchett fan, adore metal, folk music and classic country and love gaming. I'm a big kid at heart.
Hey hey! How's the Anthropology Grad!? I'm living my dreams through you, make me proud! lol jk...so really, how ya doing? : 0)

I can definately identify with the pity pounds. It's inspiring to see that you were able to overcome your obstacles and drop the weight. I'm still working on mine, and hoping that sparkteams will help. I am also an animal lover (especially horses). Hope you're feeling well.

Thanks for the comment! You look like you're doing great, and props on the running!!! I have a bad back, hips, and knees so running is out for me, but I can bike and hike and walk and swim :) Keep up the good work!!!
