Time to get moving...
April 11, 2012 One year today! 83lbs lighter and still moving forward. The weight isn't coming off as quickly as the early days but I'm still making slow progress. The best part is that I am not discouraged. I know these last 35lbs are going to be the hardest. To celebrate this anniversary I had a month-long fitness streak. It ends today but it has been a month long of reflection on how far I've come since I started. I remember the first day at the gym...I got on the elliptical and ...
I remember the first day at the gym...I got on the elliptical and thanks to the help of the trainer realized I was going backwards. That day I did 7 mins at a 4mph pace and thought I was dying. Many things have changed since that day. Post streak I am planning on continuing to exercise 6 days a week. I've also made a couple of other goals to keep me going strong. In Oct I will be running in the Marine Corps 10K in Washington DC and I am bound and determined to be able to do a pull up without having to offset 80% of my weight...haha. Overall this past year has been very hard but each day it gets easier. I am so thankful for my supportive husband who thought I was insane when I first mentioned running but now loves it more than I do. Having him commit to the goal of a healthy lifestyle with me has made all the difference in the world. Congrats to him for losing 70lbs this past year. Here's to the start of another year! August 2011 Wow! I am only 4 lbs from the 50% mark of my 110 pound goal. These past 4 months have probably been the best AND hardest months of my life. I am at a point now where I REALLY believe that I have made a lifestyle change. It no longer feels like I could "fall off of the wagon" at any second. I trust in the decisions I am making when eating and temptations have been getting easier to deal with. Luckily, I was able to find a calorie friendly way to satisfy my sweet tooth. Love ya, Fudgesicles and Fiber One Brownies! I ran my first 5K this past Saturday - there was some walking involved (probably more than there should have been) but I still am ABSOLUTELY amazed that I was able to make a goal (that was so far out of my reach when I made it) and see it through to the end!!! Of course the Wednesday before our race I had a mini meltdown and for 2 hours I was not going to race on Saturday...but then I had an "Ah-ha" moment. I forced myself to do my scheduled run and something just clicked...suddenly everything was ok and I got past my self-sabotaging ways. That is another major milestone in itself. I am also spreading the Spark as often as I can now. It's hard not to shout it at everyone I meet but to those that seem interested I can talk forever preaching the praises of this site. It has been a lifesaver! Last night I saw my doctor and I am hoping to be off of blood pressure meds in the next few weeks. I have almost reached my 3 original goals...looks like it's time to make new ones! April 2011 Hi, my name is Cassey and I joined Spark People to get healthy. I am done ignoring the state of affairs I am in. Today is a new day and change is in the air!

(Completed 10/24/11) My last goal started out as a bit of a secret goal but I'm putting it out there...I want to run a 5k before the year is over. (Completed 08/06/11) Work on my core so that I can do a sit-up.
