Looking for Health in All the Right Places

After turning 50 a couple of years ago, I decided to make this journey more about ongoing health than specifically losing weight (although that will be part of it for me). I've been through the "diet" thing so many times (and started over so many times) that something new -- finding a lifestyle (not just a diet) that will work for me -- makes sense. Life is too short not to enjoy it, but I'd also like to be around for a while to do so!

Fast forward to now: as so often happens, ...

Fast forward to now: as so often happens, I had some good success with SparkPeople, but I let myself get "too busy," also known as "distracted" (squirrel!). I had a knee injury a few months back that was a bit of a wake-up call. I had gained back the original weight and then some, my strength and endurance are nowhere near what they were, and I know I am at risk for further injury if I don't get myself moving (plus, it turns out I have a fair amount of arthritis in some of my joints).

So, here I am again. I know this gets more difficult as we get older, so I'm tackling this now. To a new (re)start as of 8/18/12!

Good morning, Dr. Jones! I just wanted to give you an updated comment on your page and say thanks for the kind words on my blogs. Teaching definitely threw a wrench in my healthy lifestyle plans...well I guess I let myself throw the wrench in there...whatever, I know I can make it better.

I read about all of your Australia plans on Facebook! HOW EXCITING! Hope that the summer is treating you well, otherwise.

Thanks for all your lovely comments to my page and blogs. And Congratulations on reaching that 10-pound milestone! I reached 13 but have been wavering between 10-13 the past 2 weeks. Like your blog, I find it a big challenge to get in my exercise time when the weather is nasty. . . like this weekend. I badly need some exercise videos for those days. Just has not been a priority on my shoestring budget. I find for women especially the scale just does not tell the whole picture (hormonal cycles, water retention, etc.), but just to keep plugging away even in the plateaus is what's important in the long run. emoticon
