White Coat - A Journey to Curing My Life

I am in love with the arts and sciences. Poetry, music, medicine, quantum mechanics, pop culture, fashion, psychiatry - it's what makes me who I am.

I'm currently in medical school and, admittedly, the days are long and stressful. It's more of a struggle than I imagined. Motivation is often tough to find and it's time for me to make a lifestyle change.

Here are some things I need to remember:

1. First and foremost, I need to do this for me. I deserve to ...

I'm currently in medical school and, admittedly, the days are long and stressful. It's more of a struggle than I imagined. Motivation is often tough to find and it's time for me to make a lifestyle change.

Here are some things I need to remember:

1. First and foremost, I need to do this for me. I deserve to feel good about myself. I deserve to be confident academically and emotionally because I've worked so hard my whole life. If I find this discipline now, there's no stopping me. I should feel great inside and out often, not rarely. I want that pretty pretty feeling. I want to be able to wear a sleeveless cocktail dress and go dance and have an abundance of energy. I want to hike and not feel winded and embarrassed.
2. "Worth the fight" - that 1% hope.
3. Family - Maybe I can inspire Mom and Dad.
4. Residency. Obese/Overweight people are still inherently discriminated against for jobs. And how will patients listen to my nutritional advice if I'm not living it right myself?
5. Discipline - Doing better here will help me do better for school.

And because I want a life. I am an amazingly happy and positive person but I've always felt like something is missing. I think if I get my life in order this way, I will feel complete for myself. I've always taken care of others and it's time to take care of me.




Goal 1: Drop to island weight (259) by end of August
Starting weight:
6/1/12: 280 lbs
7/14/12: 264 lbs
