My new bike--a Cruiser one-speed with coaster brakes. Old style for an oldie.

I'm a retired psychology professor. I've lost 50 pounds in the past several years. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes 15 years ago but have tight control (HbA1C 5.7) using metformin, diet, and exercise. I either walk on a treadmill 30 minutes and ride an exercycle 30 minutes or walk outdoors 1 hour daily. I also have sleep apnea that was diagnosed 20 years ago, although I have had it most of my adult life. I use a BiPap every night. I have heart disease and had 3 stents placed in my ...

I also have sleep apnea that was diagnosed 20 years ago, although I have had it most of my adult life. I use a BiPap every night. I have heart disease and had 3 stents placed in my right coronary artery in 2012. I also have occluded small coronary arteries which cause angina.

I have been married for 53 years (June 2013) and have two daughters, both happily married, and five grandchildren. Our middle grandson was killed in an auto accident five years ago. He was 19.

We are both retired and love to travel. You can tell this from my photos. We usually take one month-long international trip and one month-long trip within the US every year, along with several brief road trips around Minnesota and South Dakota and down to Texas. In the last year our travel has been limited due to my heart problems and my husband's aftereffects of several small strokes.

That's what so crazy. Its still snowing and were going to be back to 70* on Thursday. I've got to keep warm weather and cold weather clothes both ready to wear.

Thank you for your comments on my blog, it was a great relief to hear that your daughter has successfully treated blood clots with warfarin. I know that is being prescribed for my sister also.

Thank you so much for your kind words on my blog about my mom and Alzheimer's!
Unfortunately, it isn't easy going to see her at different times. My father doesn't want to hear about going at any other time than 5.15pm... and I try to do my best but I work full time with a very demanding job, I sometimes feel like it is driving me completely mad as I get so tired at times!!! As my father refuses to go early afternoon, I am going at least once during the weekend (it will be tomorrow), and I try once during the week too, moving my working hours to late afternoon. Luckily the nursing home is only 30 minutes away from my office, and after I visit my mother I can work from home on the evening.
I realized there was no benefit for my mother if my father and I are both there with her: it is tiring as we talk and she doesn't understand, and it gets too stressed for me as I don't get on well with my father. So I am trying various things to see what works, but at least knowing she has 2 afternoons with me every week is better than nothing...
