I'm a retired psychology professor. I've lost 50 pounds in the past several years. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes 15 years ago but have tight control (HbA1C 5.7) using metformin, diet, and exercise. I either walk on a treadmill 30 minutes and ride an exercycle 30 minutes or walk outdoors 1 hour daily. I also have sleep apnea that was diagnosed 20 years ago, although I have had it most of my adult life. I use a BiPap every night. I have heart disease and had 3 stents placed in my ...
I have heart disease and had 3 stents placed in my right coronary artery in 2012. I also have occluded small coronary arteries which cause angina.

I have been married for 54 years (June 2014) and have two daughters, both happily married, and five grandchildren. Our middle grandson was killed in an auto accident eight years ago. He was 19.

We are both retired and love to travel. You can tell this from my photos. We usually take one month-long international trip and one month-long trip within the US every year, along with several brief road trips around Minnesota and South Dakota and down to Texas. In the last year our travel has been limited due to my heart problems and my husband's aftereffects of several small strokes.

---~~~ I am Thankful for ~~~---

**The taxes I pay because it means
I am employed.
**The clothes that fit a little too snug
because it means I have enough food to eat.
**My shadow who watches me work,
because it means I am out in the sunshine
**A lawn that needs to be mowed,
windows that have to be washed
and gutters that need fixing because
it means I have a home
**The spot I have found at the end
of a parking lot, because it means
I am capable of walking.
**All the complaining I hear about
our government, because it means
we have freedom of speech.
** The lady in church who sings off-key
because it means that I can hear.
**The huge piles of laundry and ironing
because it means my loved ones are near.
**The alarm that goes off in the early
morning hours because it
means that I am alive.

Yeah, the land behind us has the same construction mess that you describe. We used to look at cows. Eventually it will be town homes with "one floor living." Lots of developers are looking at all of us aging baby boomers. This location is the house in town that used to belong to my parents.
50 years ago the same thing happened 25 miles out of town. AEP dammed the Roanoke River and created Smith Mt Lake. Once there were farms here. Now there's 500 miles of shoreline. One of the houses on that shore is US. The dam provides power all the way to the Midwest and the lake is a major tourist/recreation area.

There are still some farms bordering the lake, but they can make more money selling to developers than by farming. At least that's true in the current economy. Several developers went bankrupt in 2007 - a chance they take.
