Over the last dozen years or so my weight has steadily climbed to 200+ lbs. Several years ago I hit 213 lbs. A doctor check-up in March 09 confirmed that my weight was too high, my cholesterol was too high, my blood pressure was too high. You get the picture. It was time to do something about it.

I searched on line for some help and found Spark. Four months in and I lost 20 lbs. I was feeling great, but had plenty more work to do to reach my goal. By October 09, I'd lost 30 lbs. pretty easily.

The "holi-months" hit the same time colder weather hit. Excessive eating and less exercise caused me to give back about 5 lbs. I stabilized around 175 lbs. I will re-set my goals, do my best to meet them and then try and figure out how I can get through next winter at my goal.

The sucess I had in 2009 proved to me I can easily reach my goal in 2010. I now have two exercise tools to use, biking and running.

Eating right.
Running - since it got cold I started running a lot more. I found I really like runing. I am now a runner.
Riding my bike as much as possible. I don't like to ride when it's too cold.
I am going to have to find a way to do both when it warms up.

    Just wanted to stop by to offer congratulations on that 100k. I'm glad you posted a comment by the entry or we may have thought it was a typo. My daughter runs endurance events (50k) and I've volunteered at them. Amazing!

    Hey,Doug...thanks for stopping by my page...I am not training for anything really. I'm just enjoying the run...nothing more and nothing less....if I had known I would be at this point right now, I would have signed up for CIM,too...but maybe I can run an unofficial marathon and have my own little "yay me"party.

    Hi Doug,

    I am definitely in the (s-1) category. My road bike purchase had my wife's blessing. I work for a healthcare company. Group bike rides are like "golf" in other companies. Fitness activities are greatly encouraged. I work for a wonderful company.

    My wife wants me to sell a few of the bikes I don't ride much. I can do that. But my new road bike (now named the "Rocket"), Stumpy and Ultra Stumpy are keepers. Big Red and Little Blackie (Specialized Hardrock) may need to find new homes.

    I am running out of room!

    hey Doug, my running hasn't been solid...added more weight...lots of excuses sadly, BUT I think I will sign up for Run for INdependence and see if I can finish in reasonably ok time. Hope you are doing well!
