I eat, therefore I am. But only barely.

I've been on a journey to recover from gut dysbiosis. I was born with it (genetic SNPs and my mother's biome predisposed me to celiac disease and obesity) and I pulled the trigger with environment (I ate "SAD"). SAD made me sicker. I took antibiotics. Antibiotics made me well short-term, sicker long-term by decimating my microbiome. I'm trying to eat opposite how I grew up (food pyramid) hoping it'll help heal my gut and alleviate my fibromyalgia pain. When I don't eat I feel GREAT! I don't know why I just can't starve (*sarcasm*). Unlearning sugar. Learning about liver health and bitter food. I'm not bitter our culture leans to crap food. I have choices. I choose life.

We're all different, but most all of us with health issues might well be served to figure out our own personal foods by doing an elimination diet (your gut bacteria help you digest food: your bacteria is different from mine, so you'll have different tolerances than me). I started with paleo diet and from there took out allergens and FODMAPs (specific sugars in foods, even "healthy" veg!) and so on. It's an adventure somewhat chronicled in my blog where it belongs.

I'm learning to enjoy the journey.

My Goals:
I'd like to remember who I was before I was "peddlin' nowhere" with health issues, and become the healthiest I've ever been however long it takes me :). I will never give up.


My Program:
I need to learn consistency (I'm consistently inconsistent?). When I am consistent, I lose weight! Inspired by Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Diana Schwarzbein, Drs. Eades, & Ann Louise Gittleman + more.

Ironically I thought I was pretty healthy and that my diet was okay. (Had a lot to learn!) Realizing fatigue wasn't from being fat but from undiagnosed food intolerance was a HUGE gift. I hope my gift keeps on giving :) Pay it forward! I'm trying to not be a food cop at home, but if I learned it, everyone has to! It's my job, I'm the mom (and it's in the genes). :)

I have one daughter and she amazes me. I've learned about life by having her in mine.


Past lives: Pretzel Girl at Bronco's games, sandwich maker @ Blimpies (all that GLUTEN-lol), AA at a univ. Married, had Dd 8yrs later. I couldn't keep up with life as we kept relocating and my energy kept deteriorating. Hobbies lost priority: I only had the energy to insideously become a serious couch potato. It's a sad and ridiculous waste of human potential: I have dreams!

    LOL. Some sparkpeople emoticons are just strange. Like the baby bottle - which means what? - "Don't bother me. I'm nursing right now." LOL. The 2 side by side babies? - "Oh S---! I'm 63 and am having twins!!" And the weird hairdo guy with the sunglasses. WTH is that? - "I'm stuck in the 50s- kill me."

    Why no novel and why is one of my favorite peeps so tired? I hope it's from too much sex or something other than crappy stuff like colonoscopies. I have never had an actual colonoscopy but get figuratively reamed out a lot. LOL.

    Thanks for your comments!! We lost a kitty and gained a puppy!! And I am going to be gaining more! lol I will be at least gaining kittens, and then hubby has got the bug for rescue puppies, so we will raise Sammy enough to not be a burden and probably adopt again. I see us with 4 dogs, and 2-4 cats. We have a 2200 square foot house with a almost a half acre fenced in yard. No kids, just our fur babies! I would have a lot more if I had a bigger land and a barn! emoticon
