Wow! It was 700+ days ago that I started on SparkPeople. Since then I've had a baby and subsequently weight loss surgery in November of 2006.

After my pregnancy I became a Type II Diabetic and also had extremely high cholesterol, as well as sleep apnea. I started to be come limited with my mobility and it scared the heck out of me. At the recommendation of 3 different doctors, I declined considering WLS as an option, but when I started finding studies proving that the RNY procedure eradicates Type II Diabetes, I started to listen. I lost my Grandmother to Diabetes, I was not going to let my Daughter lose me any sooner than necessary.

I've always had a challenge with my weight, but in spite of my weight I've always been extremely athletic. at 250+ I was training for a triathlon. At 300 lbs. I was taking tap dance and step aerobics. I realize this isn't the norm, but to me being able to do those things at that weight almost seemed to make me feel normal.

Now, having lost over 100+ lbs. overall, I can't even begin to explain how good it REALLY feels to live life.

Welcome to Gastric Bypass! You’ll find plenty of support and encouragement here. No question is too stupid to ask, so post away and we’ll all put in our two cents worth. Utilize all the tools SP has to offer. I find tracking my food and exercise most helpful. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Linda
