My Road to Wellness

I have fought the battle of the bulge for many years now. I like the idea of seeing my progress and/or lack of it in front of me, total calories consumed, fat, carbs, and calories burned in the form of exercise. It cements it for me either confirming a good effort or giving a plain view of definite areas that need attention. I am 43 years old and have had a neuromuscular disease since I was 13 called myasthenia gravis. I am currently taking the steroid prednisone, which makes weight loss ...
I am currently taking the steroid prednisone, which makes weight loss extremely difficult if not impossible. But it also necessitates a strict adherence to diet and exercise. I would especially be interested in hearing from others who are in similar situations or who are fighting weight problems because of or in addition to other health issues. I am trying to remember that everyday counts...Today Matters...and for today, I need to make the right choices. One day at a time.

My Goals:
My main goal is to be healthy as I know what it is like to experience sickness. But I want to be thin and active, with the ability to run a 5K if I want or ride my bike on a 100-mile trail if I feel like it. The pursuit of divine health. That's my lot in life. This tracking thing is really cool. I like being able to SEE it in black and white. How well have i done today, this week, this month. the past three months? What good choices have I made? What bad habits keep repeating themselves? These are the things I like about this program.

My Program:
I try to live each day individually. I decide to make right choices TODAY...just for today. If I do that, I don't get overwhelmed with the big picture. I stay in the moment and live in the moment. The "todays" add up and at the end of the week, I have 7 "todays" of good choices. That's my strategy.

Personal Information:
I am 40 years old. I love animals. I own 4 donkeys, 4 dogs, 2 goats, 1 duck, 2 guineas. I love healthy pursuits. I have had myasthenia gravis since I was 13 and learned the value of good health at an early age. I would love to hear from other spark people who struggle with neuromuscular disorders or other health-related issues that compound their weight problem.
