Not just done with junk but adding the new and improved

30s, single, and not-your-mommas librarian who gained a lot of weight when I quit smoking 10+ years ago (80 lbs or so) ... been up and down ... but ready to get healthy permanently and let go of those things that are not improving my life (negativity, fake food, mind numbing TV/movie watching habits, etc.) and do what I can to add positive and the best things to life (time with family, friends, learning new skills, seeing new things, etc.).

Thanks for the visit and the encouragement! emoticon I smoked my last cigarette on October 7 2011. emoticon So, while it hasn't been that long its been long enough to know I can live without cigarettes. For awhile there (many years) I just assumed I always would. Once I proved I could do without them I started looking at some other bad habits that needed removing.

Keep focused on the healthy choices in front of you. Your blog "Good enough" when you ask about the goal line reminds me of a proverb I must have heard in a movie once... "With one eye on the goal you only have one eye left with which to find the way." Keep your eyes focused on the right now and don't wait to be happy.

Your Friend,

Mellow

Clover hugs are better than regular hugs because they contain 4 times the heart, more fiber and fewer calories. emoticon

Spark on!

Geneen Roth's book "Women, Food and God" really changed my life. Her perspective, that we have to learn to listen to our body hit home with me. If you are prone to eating when you physically are not hungry, or are eating to satisfy a need, or heal a wound that has nothing to do with food, she has some wise and powerful words. I also highly recommend her audio retreat series, which I listen to over and over again! I think it's called "Bite by bite."
Good luck, and be well.
