While I've always been healthy and active (I love to dance and I walk and do yoga ) I've also been overweight (and occasionally obese) nearly my entire adult life. I have no desire to be skinny -- I have always loved my curves and being a woman of substance! -- but I do want to be sure I stay healthy and that I can move my body in ways that I enjoy.

My highest weight ever was 194 (that's considered obese). I started Spark at 184 -- and lost 26 pounds. My lowest weight was 158. I am now in July 2012 at 168..and I want to get back into healthy BMI range. I'm aiming for staying between 160 and 165.

I know how to lose weight and to maintain a healthy weight. I know what foods are healthy for me -- I enjoy eating healthy foods and being active!

My Goals:
Goals as of 1/3/11

* Find an alternative to African dance class this semester. Continue yoga and belly dance.
* Track food.
* Enjoy the pleasure of walking around in a healthy body.
* Drink water! Lots of it!
* Go to bed by 11 p.m..




My Program:
Recording my food, and getting my activities in! Eating mindfully and enjoying what I eat. I aim for eating local, whole, and organic foods. I tend to eat vegetarian, but am not averse to eating locally raised chickens and other meat. I use sugar addictively, so I'm shying away from it. I'm finding that once I'm "off" it, everything else tastes plenty delicious!

Personal Information:
I'm a dancer and can be persuaded to try just about any kind of dance. I do contra and square regularly, swing now and then, and cajun and zydeco when I can. I like to walk and swim, although it is not nearly as much fun as dancing! I also play stand-up bass and rhythm guitar when I get the chance. I'm a communications and conflict resolution consultant and trainer.

Other Information:
I read a lot of nonfiction, primarily books on spirituality and conflict resolution. Books currently by my bedside are The World Without Us, The Biology of Belief, and Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington.

I am here, as always. I am doing the best I can, and working to say that is a good thing.

With all of the physical issues I have had in the last 3 or 4 years, I have been up and down so much.

Today was not the best day for me emotionally, so it was good to hear form you.

Without you and all of the others here, and SP itself, I know I would be in a whole lot more trouble.

Have had a great weekend with lots of exercise. Walking and walking around doing activities, and parties. Also did some dancing to the band that was playing last night.

Had to limit myself, but getting able to do more and more.

Thanks for noticing my fitnes activities. I did Tai Chi many years ago, and as I am getting stronger, want to get back to it. I am trying to do a lot of different activities to get all of the muscles that have not been used well for so long, a chance to get stronger.

The tracker did not even mention the 25 minutes I did yesterday on the Nustep machine at the gym. It is a recumbent cross trainer that works both arms and legs and back muscles as well. They have one at the Y, and have not seen one anywhere else. My gym bought two and I was very excited to see them yesterday. Gives a good all around workout.

Have been having a bad time with food, but in the last few days, I am getting better with that.

Thank you for noticing my fitness minutes. I have to laugh, because I never realize these things unless someone points them out on my feed.

Yesterday I decided that I had to go back to basics. I am working to get my attitude back to where it was when I first began this journey. My change yesterday was that I would eat only when I was hungry. I could eat what I wanted, but only if I was hungry. Also remembered that when I began, I allowed myself something sweet every evening after dinner, and made a place for it in my calorie count on my tracker.

Going to work on only that for awhile. Also getting more exercise, but I kind of view that as therapy for my knees at this time.
