Do it NOW

I am a mom of five boys from 11th grade to second grade. They are good boys and I love being a mom. I teach some music lessons in the afternoons a few days a week. I struggle to pay attention to what I do with food when I get too busy. I have been up and down 20 lbs over the past several years. Overall I'm pretty healthy: great resting heart rate, blood pressure, cardio endurance, flexibility etc. I am learning that I really do have to count calories. I have success when I do. I love ...

Overall I'm pretty healthy: great resting heart rate, blood pressure, cardio endurance, flexibility etc. I am learning that I really do have to count calories. I have success when I do. I love that sparkpeople has a recipe calculator! I can still cook for my family and know what I'm eating. I also have to exercise--when I quit, often because I feel too "busy," I actually accomplish less because I'm more tired and I don't focus my time on task as well. Life is really a learning process. I've been on and off this site now for several years--I'm back!

Thank you for your advice regarding exercising at home. I like the idea of going to the library to check some DVDs out first (I had not thought of that) and the aim to just follow eventually but not expect to do it all from the start (perfectionism is my downfall and once again probably the root of my fear of getting a DVD). I want to eventually go to a class so your point about seeing this as a prep for my "public appearance" also appeals to me. Many thanks.

Hi There! Thanks for your comment! I really love this site! I heard about it just this morning while I had the Today show on. I think it is what I need right now in my life. I never lost pregnancy weight from my last baby (over 3 years ago...gulp!) and in the past year I continue to pack on the pounds. I am thinking it has something to do with my age, because I'm not doing anything different. Time has come to reclaim my health. I have a feeling it is going to be a long journey, but that's okay. emoticon
