Fighting my Way Back

About me:

At points in my life I have been and for some of these, I still am:

- A trackster
- A drive through milk store employee
- A musician
- A nationally ranked power lifter
- A belly dancer
- A Marine
- A knitter
- A surfer
- A Harley rider (that's my bike, nobody rides on the back. . . except maybe a little kid who asks nicely :))
- A quilter
- A wood worker
- An engineer
- An animal rescue ...

I don't fit in a box. . . never have. One of the things that I am so thankful to my parents for is that there was never girl stuff and boy stuff, there was just stuff. And some of that stuff I want to get back to doing, which is why I'm here. Not so much working at the milk store, but some of the other stuff would be cool.

This is my third go around here on Spark. I think the difference this time is the fact that I'm ok with making mistakes. I'm more forgiving of myself. I don't need to have a perfect week to get on the scale. I don't need a perfect week to feel like I'm making progress. And so I'm not letting a bad day or two to completely derail me this time. Being here definitely has been a learning experience. Because losing weight in your late 30's is definitely different than losing in your 20's or even early 30's. But at the end of the day it comes down to how bad do I want it and how much effort I'm willing to put into it.

Goals:
Start - 236
225 - 100 lbs to go
215 -
213- 10%
205 - Where I was the last time I crapped out
199 - Onederland!
195 - What I weighed when I moved back to the east coast
185 -
175 -
165 -
155 - Danger Zone for me, since I start looking normal at this weight
145 -
135 - I will be happy at this weight, even if I can't lose any more
125 - Goal weight

So here I am again, first time on SparkPeople, but again on what seems to be a never ending quest to lose weight and get healthy. I think I've lost the same 25-35 lbs over the past 7 years but keep gaining the same 35-45 back. I'm now at my heaviest ever and have a long way to get back to healthy.

I've found that there's a long way between knowing what to do and actually doing it. I know how to lose weight. I know how to get in shape. I've done it a dozen times before, unfortunately I'm not that great at staying there. Hopefully with some help from this site I'll be able to do it one last time and stay there.

My Goals:
I want to run without knee pain.

I want to stop avoiding cameras because I don't want a record of what I look like now.

I want to wear shorts next summer without being ashamed of my legs.

I want to go to the doctor and not be told that I need to lose weight.

I want to get a physical and not worry about what my blood tests are going to say.

I want to stop having to go clothes shopping because I have nothing that fits.

My Program:
I am using many of the Beach Body DVDs and Zumba to work on fitness. Right now I'm doing Turbo Jam with some Zumba thrown in. As I get fitter, I plan on moving to Turbo Fire and adding in the strength training from P90X.

Diet is my downfall. Right now, I'm working on being aware of what goes into my mouth on a daily basis. I'm following the SparkPeople calorie and nutrition guidelines and using those as my basis.

emoticon for stopping by my blog. Cancer sucks! We lost my grandfather to cancer last November, so I'm beyond happy that my friend went and got checked and hers was detected early. Hope your week is great!
