Becoming the Best Me

I'm working on becoming the best me I can be so I can learn healthy habits now before my life gets too chaotic. I finished school in April 2011 with an MA in Linguistics and am trying to break in to the field of study abroad/international education. I love traveling, languages, people, and basically anything that starts with the word "international." I'm also happily married to a wonderful man who is my main cheerleader.

I think I can safely say I have become a runner, and am looking forward to using SP to continue my running goals and build a healthy lifestyle.

It really was great seeing you today! Thank you so much for running along with me. I only wish I could have kept up my pace but the darn legs were not cooperating! But I finished! Let me know when you are running another local race. Tammi and I would love to run with you again!

hey, thanks for dropping by my page and keeping up with my sporadic blogging...!! I really appreciate your comments, and you do have a point about letting up a bit on the drastic-ness of my blog-reading-restriction! It is fun to read entertaining blogs, but it's sometimes so hard to find that golden 'moderation' area. (in so many different aspects of life actually!)
Anyway, hope you're doing well!

Hi!!
Thanks for your comment on my blog about my 13 goals for 2013 - So sorry it took me a while to get back to you about the training plan! Do you use the RunKeeper app? If you don't yet, I highly recommend it! Anyway, I don't know if it's a new or only new-to-me feature, but I recently discovered the Training Plans feature, and chose the sub 60 min 10k one. It's pretty extensive and there are four weekly runs to complete, but I don't think I'm going to be doing more than 3 runs a week, and I'm ok with that. I jumped in about 6 weeks into the program (so that the end date aligned with my race date) and actually found the workouts to be challenging but just right for where I was. Of course, I completed abut 3 and then we got hit by the stormiest windiest rainiest week that the country has seen in over a decade so running has been on hold for the past 5 days or so... (tried running on a treadmill but IT'S NOT FUN!)

Anyway, this is the link:

I hope you find it helpful - maybe we can help keep each other accountable for completing the workouts!!

Wow, you completed a MARATHON???!!!
That is mind blowingly awesome :)

I'm sorry to hear your injuries got in the way of training and achieving the best result you are capable of, but in a way - you deserve even more kudos for powering through and actually COMPLETING A MARATHON despite not being at your physical 100%.
I still can't even wrap my head around the marathon distance, much less ever consider running it. (At the moment, I have a random blister on my big toe which is making me wonder whether I even want to walk to the kitchen... I'll probably just stay thirsty :)
So congrats on tackling that milestone - it's a big one!!
Hope your future marathon experiences just keep getting better!!
