May my next 40 years be healthier!

Hi my name is Dawn. I am about to turn 40 in a few weeks and after the last 12 years where I gained more than 150+ pounds. I don't like it! I think part of the reason I gained so much was I was in a bad marriage where our oldest son had died and I found comfort in baking! I still do love to bake. Hi my name is Dawn. I am about to turn 40 in a few weeks and after the last 12 years where I gained more than 150+ pounds. I don't like it! I think part of the reason I gained so much was I was in a bad marriage where our oldest son had died and I found comfort in baking! I still do love to bake. I have also done fertility twice and have a diagnosis of PCOS. I have 2 sons. One in heaven and one spitfire elementary age, he is my world. I have since divorced my sons' father and married a wonderful Southern man who see pasts my weight to who I really am.

The reason I joined is that this year will be 10 years since my oldest son died. I have realized that if I don't do something soon, I may end up joining him.I don't want that, I want to see my grandchildren someday and enjoy the many years I will have with my husband. So, it has been suggested to have gastric surgery by my doctor. Which irrtates me because to me it is a quick fix and not a solution for the underlying problem or helping me make better health choices (did I mention I am about to graduate with a degree on Psychology) and to add insult to injury I talked to my husband's insurance and I was told that the procedure was not covered under our policy. Well, so I am going to take it upon myself and work thru here and hope for the best.

In the last year I have lost some weight enough to go down a shirt size and almost a pants size. PCOS gives you an apple or pear shape big time. I joined the YMCA and now will be walking my son to school as soon as the weather breaks and I don't have to walk him in the cold.

My first goal is 50 pounds by July but I like to make that by May! Here is to good health for all of us!
